I have a 2011 Nissan Xterra 2 wheel drive in Australia. I have never towed anything or been off road or carried heavy loads. Driving on the freeway on cruise control and it kept jumping off. I took it to the Nissan Dealer I bought it off and wasn't happy with them. I took it to another Nissan Dealer and they pulled it apart finding the dual mass flywheel clutch was ground to the metal. They were also surprised as when they drove it there was no smell and I never smelt the clutch burning and it happened all of a sudden. They found the rubber boot on the bearing was loose and they put a warranty claim into Nissan which was rejected saying that they believe it was wear and tear. I am very unhappy with this outcome and I have spoken to Nissan a number of times, their answer was a direct no to the warranty claim. I have been driving manuals all my life and the clutch has outlasted the car. So why this at only 28000 miles? Is this a common problem with the Nissan Xterra dual mass clutch? Is there a technical bulletin on this? I have read in the forums that I'm not the only experiencing this. I have been advised to go for an aftermarket single mass flywheel which cannot be any worse.
