I loved my Xterra it is barely driven, 66000 miles, but gave me unexpected financial shock of $5500 in a month two week after full service at Nissan Service Senter and a $1100 expense car started making whining noise when accelerating..
1. Went to first service center for analyzing the issue and replacing. Differential/transmission fluid. $450 2. Second service center took $160 and scared me that this is a $5000 expense need to replace axle. 3. Went to transmission specialist to validate the theory. Took $130 said he will charge me $2700 and fix the issue. 4 . Reached out to Nissan Care to find out if there was something that they can do as this car just finished its warranty. They asked me to take my Xterra to Nissan Service Center to do some checking. They had me hanging for 3 weeks and said they can't do anything, it is out of warranty. Come on, that is something I mentioned first place. 5. Nissan Service Center where had the Xterra went out of business. Changed me $160. Asked me to come and pick up the vehicle and go to another service center. Picked up the car and found out they drained out transmission fluid and did not close the cap. I drove to the next Nissan Service Center. 6.This new service center did the investigation again for $160. Hold my car for 3 weeks as the part was not available and there was no ETA. At last they got the part and fixed the car. $3500
I took this Xterra to check resale value it is $5000. Irony is now my differential costs more than Xterra.
