leaking radiator over heating
I TOOK THE CAR IN TO NISSAN WHEN THE LOST OF COOLANT AND OVER HEATING OCCURRED. THEY SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS OK BUT THE RADIATOR NEED TO BE REPLACED. I ASKED IF THE SAME NISSAN RADIATOR WOULD BE PUT IN AND THEY SAID YES. NOW WHY WOULD I PAY $700- $1100 TO PUT IN ANOTHER JUNK PLASTIC RADIATOR. I AM NOW IN THE PROCESS OF FINDING AN ALL METAL RAD AND SOME ONE TO INSTALL IT. NISSAN SAID THE TRANSMISSION WAS OK BUT BASED ON THEIR HONESTY WITH THE RADIATOR I AM NOT SURE THAT THE TRANS WILL NOT HAVE PROBLEMS SOON AFTER I PASS THE 100,000 MARK WHICH MEANS I PAY THE WHOLE BILL OF 6-7 K FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS RAD IS A FAULTY PART AS SHOWN BY THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS. I HAVE HAD HONDA'S AND TOYOTA'S IN THE PAST AND WENT WELL BEYOND 200,000 MILES WITH OUT A SERIOUS PROBLEM, AND SOLD THEM WITH STILL GOOD RESALE VALUE THIS XTERRA MAY HAVE TO BE SOLD FOR PARTS MINUS THE RAD AND TRANS. THE EXTERRA HAS BEEN FUN TO DRIVE BUT AT 97200K IT IS TOO SHORT LIVED FOR MY WALLET.
