CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014-2017 Nissan Versa Note has an expensive CVT transmission failure defect that shows up plainly in our complaint data.

In late 2019, the CVT defect was subject to a class action settlement. However the settlement only covers transmission repairs up to 7 years after purchase or 84,000 miles (whichever occurs first).

Because many owners commonly drive 20,000 miles/year or more, Versa Note owners experiencing CVT transmission problems may find they are not covered by this settlement due to the mileage limitation.

I live in Quebec and the winters can be fairly harsh in our area. The first winter with the car I noticed the heating system was not powerful enough to keep warm in the car to the point that at times, the front windows would remain foggy.

I brought the issue with my dealer which analyzed the car and finally told me that the car was not designed for this climate. Not being satisfied with this answer, I made a formal complaint to Nissan which told me to be patient that they needed time to figure out the issue. Nissan never came back to me in regard to this problem. The car is now 3 years old and I still have to leave with a car that is apparently not made for Canadian climate. Then why would they sell that car in Canada in the first place???

A/C stops running and hardly any air comes out

This has happened twice. Once in 2015 and in Feb 2016. Having a heat wave in Oklahoma in Feb. It was hot outside about 80. I noticed there was hardly any air coming out. It was so hot. Stopped at a store and from the inside of the car we heard the AC Motor (?) was so loud. Thought it was going to explode. It didn't stop until I turned off the car when we reached our destination. In about an hour the Ac started working. Still under extended warranty. Taking it to the dealer. TERRIBLE CAR but very roomy in the backseat.
