Nissan Preliminary Evaluation PE24007: Reduced Power After Engine Stall
2024 Nissan Versa
Reduced Power After Engine Stall
Power Train
- Summary
- The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 20 complaints and multiple field reports describing reduced power (limp mode) following a vehicle stall in 2022-2024 MY Nissan Versa vehicles equipped with a manual/standard transmission. The complaints allege that if the vehicle stalls, resulting from releasing the clutch too fast (or for other reasons), the vehicle goes into the limp mode resulting in limited torque available to move, or accelerate the vehicle. This limp mode occurs without prior warning and can occur while driving on the highway, or in city traffic. Several of the complaints allege not being able to maintain vehicle speed above 30 MPH or accelerate to avoid a potential hazard. This Preliminary Evaluation has been opened to assess the scope, frequency, root cause(s) and consequences of these reduced power incidents.? Additionally, ODI may expand the scope of the subject population during the investigation, if needed. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
