CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012-2017 Nissan Versa has an expensive CVT transmission failure defect that shows up plainly in our complaint data.
In late 2019, the CVT defect was subject to a class action settlement. However the settlement only covers transmission repairs up to 7 years after purchase or 84,000 miles (whichever occurs first).
Because many owners commonly drive 20,000 miles/year or more, Versa owners experiencing CVT transmission problems may find they are not covered by this settlement due to the mileage limitation.

Randomly this vehicle accelerates and drops rpm's. It happens on the expressway, two lane roads, etc. One day I was completely stopped at a red light, it revs up and I end up tapping the Lexus in front of me. This was with my foot on the brake!
Took it to dealer, claimed it was because it has CVT trans. I told him my previous Versa had the same and it certainly didn't do this. The mechanic acted as if I was ridiculous and shrugged it off. Received feedback survey, service manager called and wanted to know what they could do. Left the car for the day, they worked on the idling, finally, don't know if that has helped yet. Just got the car back. Only reason they did that was because they called at noon, couldn't find the problem and suggested I take time off from work to "ride with the mechanic"?????!!!!!!! I refused, if they can't believe me what is the point of riding with the mechanic?
I've always used this dealership and haven't had any issues, but right now I'm disgusted and wouldn't recommend this model to anyone.
