CarComplaints.com Notes: Be aware the 2007-2011 Nissan Versa was recalled in the US in May 2016 & July 2017 for defective Takata airbags that are potentially deadly. Many Versa owners have reported problems getting Nissan dealers to complete the recall repair, due to scheduling problems & parts shortages.
If you are considering purchasing a 2007-2011 Nissan Versa, call your local Nissan dealer with the VIN# & ask if the airbag recall has been done.

To carlos.ghosn@nissan-usa.com I purchased a 2011 Nissan Versa VIN 3N1BC1APGBL431985 from Oak Ridge Nissan, 1549 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830 on 4/5/2011.
On 10/3/12 I had my Nissan Versa in for service an oil change and my tires rotated, along with the recal that I received that needed to be done. I also was concerned because randomly I would hear a popping noise when I made sharp turns, and my headlight was not working. I received a call from the service at Oak Ridge Nissan and was told that I needed to 4 new tires, it would cost me $66.00 to replace my headlight, that I needed a brake fluid flush $99.00. My vehicle only has 28,000 miles on it. I was very upset and said how can I need 4 new tires with only 28,000 miles on this vehicle. I was told that Nissan puts low quality tires on their new cars and they need to be replaced at 28,000 miles. The popping noise was duplicated by the service technician and they only heard it one time and it was not enough to investigate to find out what is the problem with the car. I also, did not get the recal on my vehicle and was not told that it was not done or scheduled to bring it back it for the recal, if I had not noticed when I got home that no mention of the recal was on the paperwork I would have assumed it was done and it was not done. Also, if I had not called Nissan Consumer Affairs, they would have charged me $66.00 to replace my front headlight when it was suppose to be covered under warranty since I do have a 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty and also purchased the gold plan of 72 months or 100,00 miles. So I picked up my vehicle and it cost me $224.45 for an oil change and tire rotation.
I called Nissan Consumer Affairs and spoke with Joy at ext. 457343 and she told me that my vehicle was covered bumper to bumper for 3 years/36,000 miles and gave me case number: 9556218 she said I would be contacted with 24 hrs by a representative of Nissan. I was contacted by Lupe - Phone No: 800-343-6913 ext 458171 and I discussed the situation with her, she advised me to take my vehicle to another Nissan Dealership.
On 10-9-2012 I took it to Ted Russell Nissan 8565 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. I received a phone call from their service technician stating that I had a cracked axle boot and it was slinging grease and again it is not covered under warranty because I must have hit something, and I have not hit anything and wants to charge me $762.00 for repair and also said that my tires were bald and needed to be replaced. Now, Nissan Dealersip #2 is telling me again, that Nissan puts low grade tires on their new vehicles and that have to be replaced at 28,000 miles. I received a phone call from Lupe and was told she would try to get me a good-will repair done but could not guarantee anything, but sorry your tires are not going to be covered under your bumper to bumper warranty that I would have to contact whoever Nissan used for the tires, but even Nissan can't tell me who I need to contact about the tires.
So now I have left my vehicle for (2) days and still no repair has been done, and I am driving a vehicle with a cracked axle, that should be honored by my warranty and is being refused by Nissan Dealerships. I still owe $14,000.00 on this vehicle and all the service technician have to say is that it was my fault and they do not have honor a warranty. I am a single parent with a son in college, the reason I purchased a brand new vehicle off the lot and purchased an extended warranty was so that I would not have to worry about any problems with my vehicle or costly repairs for at least 5 years. I am only 1 year into this vehicle and I already have over $1,000.00 worth of repairs that need to be done. I am also driving a vehicle right now with a cracked axle boot and this could case a serious deadly accident.
The only reason why I purchased a Nissan vehicle was becuase I have always heard good things about Nissan's and they stand behind their vehicles. I do not know what has changed, but I feel that Nissan is not standing behind their product, or you have 2 Dealerships in Tennessee that are crooks and are giving Nissan a bad name and they are not standing by their product.
