CarComplaints.com Notes: Be aware the 2007-2011 Nissan Versa was recalled in the US in May 2016 & July 2017 for defective Takata airbags that are potentially deadly. Many Versa owners have reported problems getting Nissan dealers to complete the recall repair, due to scheduling problems & parts shortages.

If you are considering purchasing a 2007-2011 Nissan Versa, call your local Nissan dealer with the VIN# & ask if the airbag recall has been done.

After receiving by mail notification of the recall, I went to a Nissan dealer trying to get a rental car. First attempt an associate approached me "trying to make her sell"... I presented my notification and immediatly she changed her approach. She told me it was too late and that I need it to come back. I went back a couple days later and earlier, at 04:00pm as she requested. Again, no one was able to helped me getting a rental or substitute vehicle. I requested for them to check with other Nissan dealers, but I just got a "no" for an answer: "I am busy, I have too much load work... etc" I called myselft to another Nissan dealer and they told me they will call me back in about two weeks, when they have an available rental car for me.... until now that dealer haven't call me yet. I went to a Nissan dealer, and at this point I was all concerned due to my new job commute. Finally I found an associate willing to help, but I have to paid deposit ($50) for the rental car and increased my insurance payments up $130 monthly premium (updated to full coverage even after I paid off my car -Nissan Versa 2011-) any dealer associate showed corncen for the safety recall nor for any possible fatal accident.

Takata recall I am being forced to take my car off the road and either get a rental or purchase a new car. The dealer ship will not have the parts until late spring of 2018. That means my car will be off the road for at least 6 months. Recall #17V-449

I have received a recall for airbag on driver's side. The new airbag will not be available until spring 2018. The Nissan dealer recommends that I do not drive the car and hire a car from enterprise. The loan car would be free, but I would have to pay full coverage insurance. The cost of that would be $28 per day. This is ridiculous! I cannot pay that amount. What do I do" do I risk injury by driving the car? what is the actual risk" nobody can tell me.

Takata recall - I received an interim owner notification-safety recall from Nissan re: The airbag recall. That notification states that Nissan anticipates the replacement part(s) to become available in the spring of 2018 and I had to wait for a second notice when the part becomes available. I called the dealership immediately and they aren't even starting a parts waiting list or scheduling appts until the spring of 2018 and that no alternative parts (I.e. new steering wheel with out the takata airbag) were available. This is my only vehicle and I use it to Transport my special needs toddler (4 ada diagnoses) to her special needs school. I've been renting a car or hitching a ride to provide her transportation. She already has multiple disabilities and we shouldn't be left no option other than to run the risk of additional injury to her. We live in a rural area and have had to cut our food budget in order to pay for the rental to get her to special school. Waiting until spring of 2018 to start a part(s) and service waiting list is unacceptable. I've just received the notice re: Chapter 11 bankruptcy, so we missed the ppic deadline before we knew there was one. Now the restitution fund deadline is the end of Nov but those claim forms are not available on the tkrestructuring.com website. There has to be a legal way, for takata to provide a rental car or temp replacement so our family is sacrificing basic needs in order for me to get her safely to school and we will not be able to continue this expense until sometime in the vague spring 2018. I've been to the

Drove for several years having no idea my life (and family/friends) was at risk. Far, far worse than that...during 2016-2017 I drove the vehicle while pregnant!!!!! following that in 2017, I drove with my newborn child in the car and my husband!!!! I cannot begin to describe the level of anxiety and horror I feel having learned of this recall after my child was born. I am in absolute shock at the thought of what might have happened!!! although the dealer has given me a loaner free of charge until the part is replaced, I have no where to house my vehicle. I do not have a garage or private driveway. The car is parked on a public street for what could be maybe six months?! this includes being parked over wintertime. I am concerned about the damage to the monetary and functional value of my vehicle as it sits seemingly endlessly. Moreover, I am much too frightened to even consider getting into the car to start the engine or move it around during this period. However, the engine will need to be started and the car will need to be moved. But, that is a true quandary.

Takata recall - I was recently notified that my 2011 Nissan Versa has a safety recall due to the takata airbags. I was told they will not be able to repair it until spring of 2018 when parts are unavailable. The only option they gave me was a loaner vehicle that I would be required to bring back to the dealership every month to renew and I would not be compensated for my time and inconvenience in having to repeatedly drive to the dealership. I do not want a loaner vehicle for many reasons, if they cannot repair it they they should have to buy it back but they have refused to do so. I am now forced to drive an unsafe vehicle, risking injury and death on a daily basis since I cannot afford to buy another car.

Nissan recall -I was never notified about the initial air bag recall on 5/23/17 recall #16V-349. They notified me this week of the recent issue #17V-449, but they're not offering to remedy it until spring of 2018. Does that qualify as the "timely manner" stated on this site" or would I possibly have ground to request reimbursement and turn the vehicle in" I worry about driving the car that long, and questioned whether that fell under the laws guidelines. It just seems like an issue that they didn't notify me last year when the first recall happened. Thanks for your time.
