2011 VERSA started knocking at 44500 miles. Returned car to Hill Nissan car returned 30 days later after motor was replaced twice. I cannot fault the dealership because they did their jobs. Car now has 67000 miles 22000 on engine and knocking is back. I took car with purchased extended warranty to Bondy Nissan they informed us the engine needs to be replaced. knocking noise from engine between cyl 2 and 3. They want oil change history so they get it . I am now waiting to see if it is my imagination or if I am getting the run around . Anyway one car engine number 4 in less than 68000 miles .. NISSAN is done I will be trading as soon as it is fixed and it will not be another Nissan product. MY complaint is his engine model not been recalled by Nissan

Started with the car stalling when stopping. Have changed the spark plugs as suggested by AutoZone, now the computer is saying 3 more codes for electronic throttle control, MAF sensor, and intake valve timing control circuit failure bank 1. I have called Nissan and was told the standard, come put it on the machine but they want 300.00 for that and if it is covered by warranty I will get it refunded but if not I get to bite the bullet for that and any other repairs that a car with very low all highway miles should not have.

Thank god we have a very reliable 2002 Diamante with 200,000 miles on it and never any problems as back up. Note to self NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN there is a reason they changed their name from Datsun years ago.

We noticed a knocking and the service engine light came on. Took it to the dealership and they said the oil was low. We knew it was due for an oil change and that it was maybe a quart low if that. Said oil was lumpy but when we check it before taking to the dealership there were not clumps of oil. The Versa was put on the diagnostic machine for $80.00, then we had the oil changed, then paid another $40.00 to put it back on the diagnostic machine. Was then told that we needed a new engine and it was not covered by warranty. When I called them (my husband took the car in) I asked them why if there were problems why they did not show my husband and got no reply. They wanted me to bring the vehicle back in and I politely told them I would not pay for another diagnostic test. They said in order to determine if it was covered by warranty the engine would have to be torn down for up to $400.00 and if it was not covered by warranty and we didn't want it repaired it would cost another $400.00 to put it back together again. I called the warranty company and a claim had not even been opened! I was told by the warranty representative to contact the service manager at the dealership and to have him call them. When I called the dealership the service manager was not at his desk so I left a message and am waiting.....waiting....waiting.

Update from Jul 13, 2013: The service manager from CarMax did call me back. They are still insisting that we pay out of our pocket up to $400.00 just to tear down the engine to determine what the damage is to the engine and whether it is covered under warranty. Then if it is not covered we would have to pay to have it fixed and/or pay another $400.00 to put it back together. In other words, we pay our of pocket first and trust them to determine that it is covered by warranty and if it isn't it's too bad for us and more money off the money tree.

It happens about twice a oil change cycle and never for the mechanic. It is not the abs noise. It sounds like a belt knocking in the cvt. no fix???? Hope it doesn't kill me in an accident.
