Versa 1.8L

Speedometer and odometer are off by about 10%. Three trips to the dealer for service and all I have gotten is "it's within specs. The speedometer says 74 when you are doing 68, how is that within specs. They finally acknowledge the issue and sent a tech to my dealer, took my car for a day and sent the data collected to headquarters. This is more than an incovienence, it's costing me real money. The warranty will expire sooner, the car will lose value quicker (with fake mileage and known odometer issues on the carfax), the cost of shortened intervals between services.

Nissan has already said they want to "settle the issue" once a solution has been found and completed. Subaru was sued for millions in the past for a smaller variation in the speedometer and lost. Nissan wants to avoid this, so if its off call them! 1-800-nissan1 Sticking together to fight the man is important, so please email me at cswilson139@yahoo.com if you have a similar issue with this model.

Versa 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission

My 2011 Versa's speedometer is 7-10mph too high. I took to the dealer. They finally agreed there was a problem. They called Nissan and said I'd have to wait for Nissan to get back to them. That was 6 weeks ago. Still no solution.

The speedometer is way off in my Versa 1.6 automatic. The faster i go, the further it it off. So on the freeway, I have to do 83 MPH to do 75 MPH. I bought the car new. I took it back to Nissan and they filed a workorder to solve the problem, its been 3 months with no answer. I've called several times with the same answer, they are waiting for Nissan to send a solution to the problem. Right now I am adding miles to my car that I have not driven. I have read that other people have had this same problem, but no solutions. Anybody else have any luck with Nissan about this?

LET ME START BY SAYING I LOVE MY VERSA! THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THE SPEEDOMETER! WHEN DRIVING, I AM ACTUALLY GOING ANYWHERE FROM 4MILES AN HOUR SLOWER AT30MPH TO 12 MILES AN HOUR SLOWER AT 70MPH! WHEN I FIRST CARRIED THE CAR IN AFTER ONLY A FEW DAYS, I WAS TOLD THAT THEIR GARMEN GPS ONLY SHOWED IT OFF + OR - 1 MILE PER HOUR. AFTER MAKING A TRIP THROUGH ATLANTA & COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC AT 80MPH, I KNEW IT WAS OFF. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT JOHN LEE NISSAN & A SERVICE MAN RODE WITH ME WITH HIS COMPUTER HOOKED UP TO MY CAR. PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS INTERNAL FAILURE OF SPEEDOMETER. CLUSTER GAUGE WAS ORDERED ON AUGUST 17. ON SEPTEMBER 28 CLUSTER WAS INSTALLED IN CAR. THEY AGAIN CHECKED CAR WITH GPS. THEY SAY (HAVE IT IN WRITING) "ALL SPEEDOMETER READINGS ARE NORMAL NOW." WRONG!!!! THE NEXT DAY I DROVE 65 MILES AWAY & COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC AT 75MPH. I CHECKED IT YESTERDAY WITH MY BROTHERS GARMEN GPS & IT WAS STILL OFF. WAY OFF! DRIVING HOME LAST NIGHT, MY HUSBAND FOLLOWED ME IN 2000 SATURN. WHEN I WAS DOING 70 HE WAS DOING 58! AM GOING TO CHECK IT AGAIN THIS MORNING WITH LOWRANCE iFINDER H20. AM GOING BACK TO NISSAN FIRST OF WEEK. WILL KEEP YOU POSTED FOR SOLUTION.

We bought a new 2011 Versa and after driving for a day we realized the speedometer seemed to be off. We tested/paced with 3 other vehicles and discovered it seems to be off by 7-10mph, saying we are going faster than we actually are. We took back to the dealership and they claim they put on their machine and it is within 2 mph and their standards. They will not do anything else about it. Now we have a brand new car that doesn't even register the accurate mph we are traveling. Not only is it putting more miles on the car that will make the warranty expire sooner but we don't actually know how fast we are driving.
