The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that the locks were not working on the hatchback. While the vehicle was in motion, the locks would lock and unlock without the contact doing anything. Also, the odometer and fuel gauge were flickering and not providing a correct reading. The vehicle was taken to car-mart of texarkana (3015 summerhill rd, texarkana, tx 75503, (903) 792-4298) where it was recommended that the lock motor be replaced. The dealer stated that they would repair the odometer, but admitted that they basically rolled it back. The contact also stated that the mileage reading changed to time. The vehicle was purchased in March of 2019. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, the contact received an unknown recall notice regarding the air bags. She took the vehicle to an unknown Nissan dealer to have the recall repair completed. The contact mentioned that the dealer did not let her see the paperwork for the sale until after she signed for the purchase. The failure mileage was 113,329.

Prior to being apart of the takata inflator recall, I did not realize that citizens could report erroneous and dangerous part failures in their automobiles prior to a dangerous incident. Having gone through the takata recall, I am now a more aware consumer and want to report an incident involving failing door assemblies on Nissan Versa hatchback's. the right front door lock actuator failed on my 2010 Nissan Versa hatchback several years after ownership. It is unclear if this happened during or after driving, but it was discovered when the car was stationary. I have been told by Nissan that the door latch assembly needs to be replaced in order for the hatch back door in the rear to open. The unlock signal even when the doors are unlocked is not being sent to the tailgate. A failure to design and manufacture high-quality door latch is not a consumer or customer error. Additionally, other auto company's like Ford have recalled their door assemblies, because any weakness in a door assembly can cause the door to open while driving and poses a risk to the passengers or drivers. Ford stated that "should a customer be able to open and close the door with these conditions, the door may appear closed, but the latch may not fully engage the door striker with the potential that the door could open while driving, increasing the risk of injury." The NHTSA needs to look into the Nissan actuator issue. It is a risk for people riding and driving Nissan and also a liability to the company.

My air conditioner went out after 5 years of having the car. I had to pay over $1600 to have it fixed. My trunk stopped opening this year and could not be fixed. Now, there is an air bag problem with no replacement parts available yet. The dealer wants a $50 dollar deposit and for me to bring my insurance records to get a loaner. I was told to have someone with me for they have no room to store my car. I would need a person to ride with me so that the car can be stored in my driveway.

I opened my drivers door, the handle came completely off. The drivers door will not open from inside either. It sounds like it still works but nothing happens when you try to open it from the inside. The key will not open it, no outside door handle, possible interior plastic\electrical components broken. Vehicle still runs and drives fine. Powertrain is intact. Interior is falling apart due to cheap construction. Looked online to the Nissan forum board and saw many other people with same problem with door handles breaking for no apparent reason. Car is only equipped with one key entry on drivers side only. Keyfob and security system starting to break down. Went to Nissan dealership in steven point wi and they will only fix if I have money to repair. Ford dealership in Wisconsin rapids where I bought the car said that the warranty does not cover this. Repair could cost me over $700+.

When driving I can hear a chirping noise from the engine area; when accelerating sounds like coming from the front right hand possibly the tires; the breaks do not react on command; the shifter material on the automobile delaminated; button on seat belt came off; driver rear door coming apart; engine light is on; experienced problems with water intrusion from outside; engine and engine cooling, exterior lighting, noise from steering column, electrical problems radio not working; vehicle has not started at times; rear hatch would not open; the automobile's gas tank had to be replace; when I received a notice of the recall I went to Nissan of bakersfield and asked about the recall for this automobile and they stated "we have nothing to do with that recall notice". we can not help you and they sent me home. The vehicle jerked while driving, the driver's window was inoperable, the gasket was replaced three times. Also, the battery had to be replaced. Updated 12/01/14.

There are two issues involved. Engine stalling and trouble starting. The engine stalled at low speed on multiple occasions. There were no indicators, the engine just cut out in the middle of driving. When traveling at higher speed, engine would stutter (dash indicators would quickly come on and then disappear.) the other issue is trouble starting. Sometimes when ignition switch is turned, it would not do anything. When it happens the only thing noticeable is the gear indicator shows blank (normally show 'P' for park). Sometimes the starter would crank and engine would start but only run for 1-2 seconds before stalling again. When it happens, pressing down the gas pedal while turning ignition switch would normally resolve the problem.

The TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) light refuses to go off. The tire pressure is correct per manufacturer's specifications and it has been checked monthly. When the outdoor temperature reaches 80 degrees F., the light shuts off. Living in new england, the light is on most of the time. Ironically, 3 months into car ownership, we had a flat tire and the light did not come on. The car currently has 14,500 miles on it.
