CarComplaints.com Notes: Be aware the 2007-2011 Nissan Versa was recalled in the US in May 2016 & July 2017 for defective Takata airbags that are potentially deadly. Many Versa owners have reported problems getting Nissan dealers to complete the recall repair, due to scheduling problems & parts shortages.
If you are considering purchasing a 2007-2011 Nissan Versa, call your local Nissan dealer with the VIN# & ask if the airbag recall has been done.
We noticed the speedometer was off by about 7-10 mph. We were going slower than it showed. This is a big issue because it will accumulate miles faster on your odometer causing your warranty to expire prematurely and faster depreciation in value. At first, the dealer denied that there was an issue and said they have a 5mph window. I pressed the issue and they reluctantly tested the speedo. They found it to be 7mph off. They told us that they could not legally give us the car back while they waited for parts, so they gave us a very nice loaner (Altima). It took 6wks to get the parts in to repair because parts come from the Tsunami hit area in Japan. Now the problem is fixed and they did a good job.
