This problem causes the Service Engine Soon (SES) light to come on until the problem is checked. At first, I thought it was a loose gas cap. But after re-tightening it, the SES light was still on. I brought it to the dealer which then ran a diagnostic to find out that a faulty valve on the catalytic converter needs to be replaced. This valve shuts once a pressure of positive 1 lbs. is reached in the gas tank. It remains open so the SES light turns on as an emissions problem. It's OK to drive the car, but this should be repaired ASAP according to the dealer.
