Just bought this car and the dealer just looked everything over. Had the oil changed and a check up. Got the car and the check engine light was on. Was planning on taking the car to the shop but the light went out when I started the car in the morning. but now 4 days later I hear a tapping noise coming from the motor. I believe it is the valves but it may be the injectors. I have not taken it to the dealer just yet. The noise does dampen down a little but if the radio isn't on and the A/C is off the tapping will drive you nuts.

I tired of bringing my car in for rattling lifters and other scary noises that take several minutes too long to fade (not go away) when the engine is warm. I guess because I'm female the service department thinks they can pat me on the head and put STP or some other additive in my oil so they can put off real repair until the warrantee has expired. I don't remember how many times I've brought the car in, but they told me to wait for cold weather before I bring it back again.

I have contacted the BBB for documentation I'll need for the Lemon Law. I truly hope to resolve this (I have yet another appointment at 8:00AM Monday (tomorrow at the selling dealer in Gurnee, IL), because I honestly do not ever want another Nissan. The next car I get by choice will be another Ford. This is a new car! My Dad's 1934 Hudson sedan I drove in 1974 was in much better shape than this Versa (and probably still is!). I grew up driving old cars (I started driving at the age of 7) because they were my Dads hobby. Even after having my own cars for several decades now, the only other cars I've had this much trouble with have been the new Chevy Citation and the old Chevy Vega. (I won't buy any more Chevys either.) Datsun was known as dependable cars.

I'm so disappointed to find that Nissan has dropped the ball. Thanks for listening.
