This truck had been nothing but trouble. It was the first and only time we had ever bought a brand new vehicle and it really began to feel like we had a lemon. Unfortunately the state we live in has awful "lemon laws". This time we were actually shopping for a used car. We were waiting on the dealership to finish paperwork. It was cold and we had the heater running in the Titan and the radio off. A loud knocking could be heard coming from the engine. We had complained of a noise to the Nissan dealership back in May of 2020, but they had brushed us off.
This time it ended up being significant enough they had to fix it. The way they phrased the issue was "Knock in the engine, can be heard mostly in park or neutral, check and advise. Inspected cylinder 7 bore, found scoring in cylinder. As per TSB, replace short block assembly, replace short block."
The truck was at the dealership for over two weeks. We were provided a rental and it was supposed to be free of charge. When we returned it, they tried to charge us and we had to talk to the manager to get things straightened out.
We complained about the radio on this occasion as well. I had even managed to record video of the radio coming on by itself while the truck was off. We had the alarm going off on the truck at odd times because the radio would come on while we were in the house and be blaring. This would set off the alarm. This time they acknowledged the issue, but had no solution. The engine was the bigger problem at this point and we were focused on that anyway. If this had not been covered under warranty it would have cost us over $10,000 to repair. Add that to the previous power steering issue and we would have been in the hole for $15,000 on a truck that was less than 2 years old and only had 13, 897 miles on it! I will NEVER buy another Nissan!
