After 3 and half years of complaining and being ignored we are finally getting a new radio! We took the truck in for a regular oil change and mentioned the radio again. On top of the stupid thing coming on by itself, not being able to turn it off/on, not being able to turn it up/down, screen blacking out, and system randomly rebooting, now the truck itself is turning on. The engine is not starting, but the electrical system is. Like when you push the start button once to get power, but don't actually start the vehicle. The dash lights come on, the heater or A/C if left in the on position, the overhead lights.
I'm sure the headlights would come on as well but they are manual. I don't think the dealership would have done anything about it except when they were doing their multipoint inspection they could not get the truck to take any updates. Apparently this has something to do with radio, but I think it's really all the computer system in the truck being broken.
Officially they are replacing the A/V and C/U control units. So... audio visual and computer units. I'm glad we have an extended warranty.
