I was going down the interstate at 70 mph pulling a 6' x 10' enclosed utility trailer with furniture, when my oil pressure started to fluctuate and motor started to knock. Before I was able to stop, the motor quit and I lost all power. When I towed it to the dealer, they found crank damage and lots of bearing material along with other metal in the oil pan. The estimate to repair was almost $31,000.

The alternator wiring harness per recall bulletin NTB19-053 has has failed multiple times impacting starting and leaving driver stranded, shuttering while being driven, locking mechanism and other electrical components working intermittingly. Vehicle was purchased used from a dealership with 17,000 miles and shortly afterwards 1st episode of not starting occurred but then worked for about 8 months, assumed it was bad gas. In 2019 Nissan advised they inspected the harness but never informed about inspection nor recall. Over the past few years the problem one come and go and once twice I replaced the battery. Took the vehicle in to Nissan May of 2024 and they advised an alternator was needed but they did not have the part and could not get the part in a reasonable time frame. I offered to accept and aftermarket part and they did not agree to do so. A local repair center provided aftermarket part with 2 year warrant and also discovered the harness recall and advised this appeared to be the problem and would cost an addition $700 to replace. I returned to Nissan regarding this findings and was told all they had to was inspect it and they did so. Nissan Compliance was contacted and after their review they refused to pay for harness removal, even after getting photos showing issues with the alternator harness. Once, the new alternator was installed the same problems returned as originally diagnosed by Nissan i.e. a failing alternator (less that 12 volts). I am seeking to have the original campaign to replace the harness, as a visual inspection of wiring may not lead to observation and what they assume was safe may not in fact been safe at all. In addition the harness replacement, I am requesting a refund as related to the alternator as the one removed was fine and its the wiring harness failing that is creating the problem, based on the symptoms described in the bulletin and those documented by both repair shops. Lastly, it appears vehicle was a buy back Nissan.

Drive shaft broke while driving down interstate. Diagnosed by Nissan Dealership and confirmed by private diesel mechanic. Currently sitting at mechanic shop waiting on quote to be repaired if possible- due to financial hardship to replace motor. There were no warning lights that lit up on the dashboard. Vehicle drove fine up to that point.

I was accelerating onto the highway approaching 60 mph when a loud rapping noise began from the engine with a loss of power and seveare vibration almost causing me to lose control of the truck. Engine lights came on at the same time. I was able to pull over to the shoulder and shut the truck down. It would not restart after that. Dealer indicated snapped crank shaft and a replacement motor would be needed. Truck powertrain was supposed to be covered under the certified pre-owned agreement but they indicated block replacement was not covered however. Truck only has 64,000 miles on it (2017 Titan XD 5.0-L Cummins). Thanks [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I took my Titan into the dealership due to a knocking sound in the motor. The same day Nissan service called me and said the motor has to be replaced, that the know is coming from the Crankshaft. I have 112,000 miles on my truck and have completed every service required without question at the dealership purchased from. There is no way a diesel motor crank should brake at 112,000 miles. I have contacted Nissan customer Affairs and am awaiting a reply, however after reading several forums concerning the same failure problem, I decided to voice my complaint at a higher level. I have also have had the power steering system replaced twice under warranty due to power steering Failure. Nissan has stated the repair cost under warranty would be approximately $33,000. I might as well as purchase two of these at the price it will cost me to fix.

I was driving down the Freeway at 70mph, My truck lost power, I was in the fast lane I nearly missed a car due to my truck losing power, I pulled off to the shoulder. I noticed a knocking sound coming from my engine bay, no check engine messages appeared on my dashboard. I turned my engine off because of the noise, and had my car towed home. I have a friend who is a diesel mechanic at a Nissan dealership look at my truck and was told the engine needs to be replaced.

The engine started to make strange noise that sound like piston failure. I took the truck to Boulder Nissan in Colorado. They Diagnosed and confirmed scoring/cylinder wall damage in cylinder #7. This is apparently a known issue for the 5.6L V8 and there is a Nissan bulletin [XXX]. The Nissan bulletin recommends replacing the short block and I was quoted $21969.60, which is more the current value of the vehicle. My truck has 113k miles, all maintenance has been completed as recommend. I did file a complaint with Nissan Consumer Affairs the case #[XXX]. However, since my truck is no longer under warranty they would not pay for repairs. This issue with this process is since this failure is a known issue which would lead to complete engine failure, Why would Nissan not inspect these engines when they are at the dealer for service? I was told by the dealer they have seen this happen to vehicles with as little as 14K miles on them. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While driving down the highway it started to feel like the pavement was warped so we changed lanes and the shaking got violently worse. Put the truck into neutral and drifted down the shoulder hoping to get to a safe place and prevent any further damage. Who knows what kind of pileup could have happened if the engine had seized like it has done to others. There were no engine codes to warn us. Ended up being stranded around a sharp bend with vehicles and tractor trailers scarily flying by us. Truck is currently sitting at Montgomeryville Nissan in PA. They want $2200 to tear down the engine and diagnose. There are metal chunks in the oil pan so it clearly needs a new engine. I don-??t trust Nissan to inspect their own equipment especially with the known failures with this engine. Diesels are supposed to be the strongest engines you can buy. This truck only has 43,000 miles on it. PLEASE HELP. The contact stated the vehicle has a broken crank and Nissan Corporate should be held responsible for the new engine. The extended warranty has not been approved as of yet.

Driving down I40 between exit 57 and exit 47 when my truck started making a bad vibration and horrible noise. it was dark so I could not see if it was smoking or anything coming from the exhaust. Had the truck towed to my dad's house which was closer to mine. Once there we did an initial investigation on what was wrong. After pulling the dip stick and noticing there was metal material on the dip stick, we knew that something had failed in the motor. We then loaded the truck on a trailer and took to my house 50 miles away. I reached out to the dealer ship that I purchased the truck from, "Nelson Nissan" in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. They told me the truck was out of warranty by 1 month on the 5-year warranty but it only has around 98,000 miles. Since purchasing this truck from them I have only done simple maintenance. I have not even changed the tires at this point. I have changed the engine oil and filter, fuel filters, and serviced the truck more than recommended. I reached out to my local dealership and they would not help either without me paying in full. I am a mechanic so I started looking into the problem. I was going to buy a motor to replace, but with them costing over $20,000 and still paying on the truck i have not. I did start to take the motor out, but after seeing all the other trucks failing on forms i am hoping and praying the NHTSA helps with this horrible problem that is affecting several people that have chose to buy these crappy trucks. thank you for your help
