Loud roar from rear of truck. Once it started it got worse over a short period of time. Carried to dealer and was told rear end gear failure. Dealer replaced rear end. I called Nissan because only 10,000 out of warranty but turned down. If rear end had went out at speed this could be very dangerous...Nissan needs to repair these trucks!
2005 Titan 4X4 truck. I had a new set of tires put on my truck. The tire shop noticed fluid leaking onto the back plate of the brake on the right rear of my truck. I took it to my mechanic and he said it was gear lube leaking out of the axle seal and contaminated the E-brake and pads for that wheel. He also had to change the bearing because it was pressed on between the seal.
While driving heard a clanking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle, at times from a standing still position the vehicle as you try to go will slip and you will hear clanking noises from the rear and the vehicle will jerk. Vehicle was taken to local mechanic and diagnosed as having a defective differential.
Have a Nissan 4X4 Titan. Bought it new. For the second time the rear end locked up breaking the drive shaft. Good thing this happened at minimal speed. This is extremely dangerous. Nissan repaired the first time due to our extended warranty. They should be liable because they must know the repair they do will fail again. These vehicles with all their problems should not be on the road in my opinion.

I own a 2005 Nissan Titan while driving down the road the rear end started popping and lost power. Truck has 62000 miles on it. I don't tow anything with it. I took truck to the dealer, they stated this is a common problem, dealer wanted $3500 to replace the entire rear end ! if so many trucks made by Nissan are having the same issue why have you not made them recall this item. The rear end in this truck is dangerous, if it hasn't already it will get someone hurt or killed.
I was at a gas station filling my truck. I placed it into reverse and the rear differential broke causing me to only be able to drive my truck at 20 mph at 5000 RPM. I called greg at prg products and he informed me that the 2004 and 2005 Nissan Titans had a defective rear differential. Based on the number of Titans with faulty rear differentials there should be a recall on this item.
Rear went out of 2005 Nissan Titan. Was preceded by clunking, vibration. Right rear axle seal was replaced by dealer prior and under warranty for leaking at approx. 48K miles. Nissan will not replace the rear since it is over on the mileage by 12K miles even though it had to have work done to it while it was under warranty. Nothing has been to it, it sits.
Column shifter causes damage to wiring harness of the manual mode transmission button. When shifting vehicle into drive, column hits wiring harness, and over time causes wiring to the transmission manual mode button to break. Once this breaks, there is no means to down shift vehicle, causing a hazard especially when traveling roads where there are elevation changes. Was able to determine the cause of the manual mode button failure by researching Nissan Titan forums (club Titan and Titan talk). Upon removing steering column shroud immediately noticed chaffing of the wiring harness, and the broken wire. Contacted Nissan, was given file number 6550464, Nissan was not concerned with this issue due to the age (currently 4 years) of the vehicle.
While driving my 2005 Nissan Titan at approx. 45 miles an hour the rear differential locked up and I was fish tailing all over the road and was fortunate to have no hit someone or crashed the truck. 3rd member spit the driveline right out and now my mechanic is telling me nearly $4,000 to fix it. I only have 94,000 miles on it. Nissan should do something about this before someone gets killed.
