I am the original owner of a 2004 Nissan Titan Crew Cab bought new from a local Nissan dealer, here in Florida. After 13,000 miles this vehicle started to occasionally exhibit braking problems and continues to do so to this day. It is worth mentioning that this vehicle has 37,XXX miles on it. I own multiple vehicles and seldom drive this vehicle. Likewise, I do not use this vehicle for commercial purposes. Additionally, I have returned this vehicle to my Nissan dealership while the vehicle was within its purchased extended service warrantee period; nevertheless, the dealer refused to acknowledge the braking issue let alone offer to repair the issue under warrantee. What’s more, I later discovered—via the Internet—that Nissan USA issued a recall concerning the braking issue(s) relating to the Nissan Titan pickup line. After this revelation, I printed the article and took it to my Nissan dealer asking why I had not been notified of the recall. I was promptly informed that Nissan is not obligated to notify ALL Nissan product owners. Moreover, when pressed for warrantee covered attention to my truck’s problem, I was informed that I had missed the recall’s window of opportunity by six months! At present, I have performed a full front and rear brake job that includes replacing all rotors with premium aftermarket rotors and upgraded ceramic brake pads. Recently, the problem has resurfaced after the aforementioned brake job. As mentioned in subsequent threads on this site, the ABS, Brake, and VDC lights come on as the brake pedal pulsates being preceded by a slightly mushy feeling pedal before brake failure takes place. In addition, the front end shutters while the brakes grab and release in a herky-jerky manner. Finally, since so many Nissan Titan owners have both experienced as well as reported this mechanical anomaly, I’m led to wonder why the NHTSA has publicly not addressed this problem while using their legal authority to direct Nissan to promptly fix this issue.
