My 2018 Nissan Sentra had an issue with the passenger airbag light on June 16th. It was showing the airbags were always ON, even if no one was in the passenger seat. I took my car to Nissan and they said a past code was being used for the OCS sensor. I paid $150 to get the code reset and was assured the passenger airbags were working properly.
The next day, I started a road trip with my girlfriend and halfway through our trip, my airbag light was illuminated indicating that the passenger airbag was OFF. This was disheartening and thankfully, we made it home without getting into a car accident. I took my car back to Nissan on June 24th and they said I need to replace the OCS sensors and control unit now. It will cost $1098.25 + tax, but they couldn't do the repairs that day. Instead, I'll need to bring my car back a third time for the repairs and I'm not confident this will even fix the problem.
This is very frustrating because I don't feel safe driving with passengers in the vehicle and I'm annoyed we took a long road trip without working airbags. This has become very time consuming and a costly repair for only 70,000 miles on the vehicle. My last 3 vehicles were Nissan, but this may be my last.
