CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2017 Nissan Sentra has an expensive CVT transmission failure defect that shows up plainly in our complaint data from the earlier model years in this same 7th generation Sentra.
In late 2019, the CVT defect was subject to a class action settlement. However the settlement only covers transmission repairs up to 7 years after purchase or 84,000 miles (whichever occurs first).
Because many owners commonly drive 20,000 miles/year or more, Sentra owners experiencing CVT transmission problems may find they are not covered by this settlement due to the mileage limitation.

Bought this car used in Oct 2017. Didn't have that many miles on it. Paid for extended warranty 7-yrs/100,000 miles. Transmission finally went today. Called dealership and was told that the car coverage is from date of when it was produced not when you purchased it. Warranty expired Oct 2022 (which is the 7 years) I always thought that Nissan was a good brand (maybe many years ago). I was told that Nissan is the only vehicle that has the CVT. They know that there are problems with them. Why do they keep producing these CVT faulty cars? I've been telling everyone to stay away from Nissan vehicles. Definitely not worth the money or headaches. Why aren't there more class action lawsuits? Gonna cost me about $4,800 for another used transmission or $7,500 for a new transmission. Gonna dump this piece of junk and get something else. Thankfully my son's 2012 was lost in a flood a number of years ago and he got good money from the insurance company. Wish this could happen, too.
