I few members of my family drove the old 2004 Nissan Sentra, I also had because I barely had problem with that car I found it reliable, so in 2014 I got a brand new 2014 Nissan Sentra, probably the worse investment I ever made, because after five years the A/C compressor went down and now the transmission, but the worse part is that because this model had so many problems with the transmission the car devaluated quickly, so right now my car value is around $5k a 2014 car! Compared to other cars in the same category, this Sentra had been the worse holding value. Not even inflation help this car to hold value. $20k~ that I paid brand new is completely gone, because I just spent 4,200 on the transmission.

My 2014 Nissan Sentra has been hesitating when you stop at a red light or stop sign .Hit the gas to go and its like the car didn't want to take off. Two weeks ago I was on the highway and the car just lost power. I was on the gas it was like rev on its own. Basically it was like the car was doing its own thing. It started to smoke and it completely lost power. Had to pull over on the side of the road. Some oil or something was on top as if it leaked out. I am not sure because I am not a mechanic. Had to wait basically hour and a half for my roadside to come pick up the car. My car only has 117,000 miles on it and the transmission is shot. This is so unfortunate for consumers especially when you still have a loan thru the bank to pay. I was told 4K to have another transmission put in which is ludicrous. When Nissan knows Damn well that the transmissions are garbage. And they're not trying to do anything to work with the consumer to have the problem fixed, They need to recall this problem. But of course not because they're making money for every 4k repair that walks through there repair shop.

I bought the car used, out of state in Jan. of 2014. On my way home the car started sputtering, jerking violently, acceleration decreased drastically on the interstate about 50 miles after I'd filled up. I thought there was water in the gas. I had to leave the car overnight where it died on me.

I called the dealership and they said I was SOL. I had it towed to Nissan and they couldn't duplicate the issue and said there were no codes. They reset the sensor and sent me on my way. I didn't have any problems until about 6 months later it started up again...same symptoms. I took it to a different Nissan dealer and they said the same thing: could not duplicate and they didn't see any codes to help them determine the issue so they reset the sensor and sent me on my way.

Last week, I took it to Gateway to get brakes, rotors, etc. and they called after they looked at it and said the transmission was slipping and they weren't going to do any work on it because I needed to take it to a trans shop immediately. However, everyone told me that I could keep driving it, it wouldn't cause any more damage. The car now won't shift gears. After I'm stopped at a red light, it feels like it's stuck in 2nd gear - RPMs go up to 4-5 but mph is 40 and I hear a high-pitched whine.

Nissan Consumer Affairs told me to take it to a dealer for a diagnostic, but the dealer wouldn't look at it saying that he was booked until Wednesday and they couldn't give me a loaner because they don't know if the car will be covered by Nissan. Once the diagnostic is done, I'm to submit to Consumer Affairs and they will make the determination whether they will grant me an extended warranty to get the transmission fixed.

I'll be without a car for all of Christmas week and part of the following week. I've had to Uber to the store and back only once and it cost me $25; it's going to cost me approx $50/day to get to work and back the following week. I've been told it will cost me $3300-$3500 to get it fixed on my own. I don't have that kind of money. I'm at a loss about what to do.

I have a 2014 Nissan Sentra that has not given me any issues or problems. I have maintained regular oil changed and have never been tipped off pf anything unusual with the vehicle. The vehicle was obtained on September 12, 2015 as a leased former rental.

I started experiencing the car hesitating to accelerate on Sunday, July 1, 2018 on my way to work. Whenever I would attempt to hit freeway speed, the car's RMP would protest and resist, as well as "jump" up and down as if struggling to adjust to speed.

The problem happened again on Friday, July 6, 2018 on my commute to work. It was much worse than what it was on Sunday, and was obvious enough that I took to the internet to establish what the problem could be. Coming across the plethora of complaints that matched the problems I was facing, it seemed like the problem is the CVT technology within the transmission.

I embarked on my way back home, and that is when the problem became extremely obvious as well as dangerous, as the car refused to accelerate after being on the road for 20 miles. I dropped from 65 mph to 30 mph on a stretch of highway, and my gas pedal felt "stuck" and the car would not go above 30 mph. T he RMP suddenly revved up hard....from just under 2 and then leaping to 7 RPM, then remained "stuck" between 1 and 2 RPM. Getting over a steep incline of the freeway, the car proceeded to pick up speed on the decline and reached highway speed of 65. The car managed to function without issue for the last 12 miles of my commute. Unfortunately, when I came to a complete stop at an intersection just 8 blocks from my home, the car ceased to accelerate anymore. It shuddered and whined whenever I tried to get it to go again, but wouldn't accelerate when put into drive. A kind gentleman who's home I ended up getting stuck in front of heard the car as I turned it off, let it rest, start it up again, only to have the car go nowhere.

I called my boyfriend, who came down with his car to help the older gentleman give the Nissan a push to get me to the house. Strangely, the car accelerated without issue after having two men give it a running start, and I managed to get the car into my driveway. It did come to a very sharp, abrupt stop when I parked it.

I am now scrambling to figure out what to do, as the dealership I obtained this vehicle from is a drive that I wouldn't dare make with this death trap of a car. And, anything I come across regarding the CVT transmission essentially tells me that I am SOL with this thing, as a repair or replacement of the issue will cost a ton of money to more than likely not fix the issue because the technology itself is faulty.

I am furious, as I still have four years of payments on this thing.

Notice a small shudder when taking off from a stop about 2 months ago and thought it might just be the road or not warmed up. Have driven to Spokane, Las Vegas 3 times, and San Francisco and Reno multiple times with no problems on freeway. Sunday driving to Sacramento Airport about 5 miles from there, the car which I drive in sport mode 95% of the time, all of a sudden the RPM gauge shot up to 6 and felt like car started coasting despite foot on pedal. Trying to give more gas, car stayed at 60 mph, let foot off and RPM back down, go to give gas and same thing intermittent the last 5 miles. Drove back home 45 miles using only cruise control as the method of acceleration and not past 50 mph. Was able to use on surface streets during the week to work and back but when trying to go above 45 it would have no take off trying to go past 45. It is now at the Nissan dealership as of 10:30 am today and waiting to see what they find out...they are also doing the airbag recall light.

Update from Apr 18, 2018: When I first took my car in to our local Nissan dealer, I told them I looked it up on line and it could be transmission, they stated could be accelerator cable or transmission and would let me know, after not hearing from them for 3 days and paying for a rental for 2 days for work I called them and asked about it, they said their transmission guy was swamped and it would be a few days, I said I can't afford to pay for a rental and they said they would reimburse me for the rental car and to come in and pick up a car from them. When I got there they had a new car waiting and paid for the 2 days I rented from another place, they said it was the transmission but had to wait until representatives from Nissan came down to make sure they could see what repairs were needed and that they were done correctly, It has been there since March 24th and no word on the condition or progress of my Sentra but that is ok since I do not have to pay for the loaner car they are letting me use which had 300 miles when I got it but now has 1000 but I do miss my stereo compared to this one.

I PURCHASED 2014 NISSAN SENTRA FOR MY DUAGHTERS GRADUATION MAY 31,2016 SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD TO FIX THE BRAKES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CODE SAID IT WAS THE MASS AIR SENSOR. ON OCTOBER 21,2017 THE CAR STARTED JUMPING WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO GET IN GEAR. ON OCTOBER 28, 2017 THE CAR WAS STARTED TO JUMP KIND OF HARD WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. ON NOVEMBER 1,2017 MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AND STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND WAS DRIVING SLOW AND WHEN SHE TRIED TO PULL THE CAR IN THE GARAGE IT WOULD NOT GO. I CALLED TO HAVE IT TOWED ON NOVEMBER 2,2017 AND THE DRIVER PUT THE CAR IN GEAR AND IT DIED OUT EVERY TIME HE SWITCHED GEARS SO I WAS INFORMED IT MIGHT BE THE TRANSMISSION AND I DON'T KNOW HOW THAT WOULD BE POSSIBLE WITH IT BEING SUCH A NEW CAR WITH UNDER 50,000 MILES. MY DAUGHTER IS VERY DEPRESSED BECAUSE SHE HAS SCHOOL AND WORK. I AM PISSED BECAUSE I JUST GOT THIS CAR AND THE WARRANTY RAN OUT
