CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2017 Nissan Sentra has an expensive CVT transmission failure defect that shows up plainly in our complaint data.
In late 2019, the CVT defect was subject to a class action settlement. However the settlement only covers transmission repairs up to 7 years after purchase or 84,000 miles (whichever occurs first).
Because many owners commonly drive 20,000 miles/year or more, Sentra owners experiencing CVT transmission problems may find they are not covered by this settlement due to the mileage limitation.

Around 30 k miles I noticed very small knocking noise that started on the rear side of the car. I started looking for the noise first on the rear set belts, hitting the bottom side of the chassis, moved, aligned, removed, tested for several days and no luck. Then checked for any loose rear seat not locked properly, tested for several days, no luck. I inspect the trunk of the car and found the tools and jack for the spare tire were vibrating creating a possible noise on the rear side of the car, removed out of the car and the noise still there. During all this time the noise became louder and the car was already pass the 36K miles and the dealer refused to honor the warranty, which this is one of the problems with Nissan.
At this point a second rattling noise came out under the car around the gas tank. I lifted the car and found the heat SHIELD protector from the exhaust pipe broke down around 37K, again dealer did not honor this problem under warranty, the cost $279 plus tax. I can't wait to trade this car and/or TRASH IT.... to any junk yard......
