After the incident, the air bag light illuminated and the seat belt would not longer work. A child was seated on the rear passenger?S side of the vehicle in a safety seat secured by the vehicle seat belt however, the seat belt failed and caused the child seat to flip over upon impact. The child was thrown from the safety seat. The child suffered no injuries. A police report was not filed. The air bag warning light was illuminated after the failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the seat belt latch failed. The air bag failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000....updated 01-16-14

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Sentra. While driving 20 mph in foggy weather conditions, he crashed into an embankment. The vehicle was completely destroyed and the air bags failed to deploy. The seat belt also constricted his ability to move and eventually he was able to open the seat belt. The contact suffered internal bruising. The cause of the failures were unknown. The failure and current mileages were 16,000. Updated 10/26/09. Approximately 30 seconds after the impact, the air bags deployed; simultaneously the seat belt began to tighten. The seat belt did not stop tightening until it broke. It broke from the floor exposing a long cable and other wires. The buckle was still attached. The seat belt caused deep internal bruising. Seat belts snap back quickly and have hit my children several times in the face with the buckle, this time causing injury to my seven year old. We were parked seat belt was worn properly and being taken off when the seat belt snapped back quickly causing swelling and a cut under eye.
