I bought my 2007 Nissan Sentra in 2010. It had 30,000 miles on it. It was in great shape and had been a company car before I bought it. On 2/17/14 I was driving down the highway to pick up my 6 yr old and 2 month old sons so that my wife could go to a doctors appointment. I was doing 65 miles per hour when the Nissan started to sputter and then engine died and check engine light came on. I coasted to the shoulder of the road and called my wife to let her know that I had broken down and wouldn't make it to get the boys.
While I was on the phone I notice smoke coming out. I got off the phone and out of the car to pop the hood to see what the problem was. When I tried to open the hood flames started to shot out. I called 911 to have the fire department come. Within 3 minutes the car was totally engulfed in flames and was a total loss. The insurance and fire marshal are still doing an investigation into what caused the fire. Although it has been a stressful situation dealing with insurance and finding a new car. I'm just glad that it happened before I had picked up my sons.
