First: All considering purchasing this vehicle please Google search Nissan Sentra 2006 PB023 and click on NHTSA link and know that Nissan WILL NOT honor this recall.
Purchased this vehicle through 3rd party. Shortly after inspection noticed it was using an excessive amount of oil. Did some research to find that this was common for this specific model and there were a lot of complaints concerning this voiced on blogs and whatnot. 4,000 miles in car started running really rough. Did some more research to find this was a known issue by Nissan and they had issued a "Voluntary Recall Campaign" in which Nissan would replace the engine if this issue was found. Brought it to a Nissan dealership and started a case through Nissan Consumer Affairs USA (case#22885267). Dealership said that this was indeed the issue, but that Nissan was unwilling to do anything about it due to the vehicle being out of warrantee. I went home and immediately called consumer affairs and asked that the case be reviewed by someone above the customer service agent. It was sent to Durrell, regional manager who after one week of receiving the case informed me that Nissan is unwilling to help in any to rectify this known safety issue. I asked Durrell to have a superior review this as I am certain Nissan will see their mistake on this decision. I can't believe they would knowingly discard a customers complaint on a safety defect they are fully aware of. There most certainly most be an oversight. I am now awaiting a return call from Tunisia I believe the name is. Hopefully I will be able to report they reconsidered and did the right thing by a loyal long time Nissan enthusiast. Fingers are crossed.
