The service engine light comes before starting vehicle and then throttle pedal has no effect. Starts fine runs smooth but will not accelerate. I have to disconnect positive battery post for about 5 minutes and then reinstall battery cable. So far will work fine for a while. The service engine light comes more frequent now but throttle pedal will work some times. I am worried that this will start happening when driving down the highway and stall the car. We bought the car with 17000 miles and now has 107000 miles on it. I checked for recalls but none yet.

I own a 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8S. We were replacing a few problem areas under the hood, and after replacement noticed the car would not drive more than 30mph. Even getting it up to 30mph is a struggle. We took it to a couple repair shops, including a local Nissan dealership. No one is able to identify the issues we have replaced the throttle body (which is one meant for a 2006 year not 2005), and the gas pedal position sensor, 3 times. The car has been sitting for the last 5 1/2 months. Nissan does not know what the issue is. They charged me for the gas pedal position sensor, even though we just had it replaced and that part was in fact a good part! they charged us for their unfounded guesses.

My car overheated, then I took it to a mechanic and the entire engine was blown and I had to pay $1200 to fix it and come to find out, there was a recall on my make and model and year on the water pump which would have caused my car to overheat and thus not having to have my engine blown. When I called to find out about the recall Nissan informed that my vehicle was not one of those included but it matched the year, make and model"??" I want answers...

Throttle position sensor system - consists of two parts; the gas pedal and the throttle body control under the hood. Vehicle will run normally and when the tps fails, it will drop engine RPM to less than 1000 RPM no matter the position of the gas pedal. Most often occurs right after starting the vehicle and in shift pattern between gears, however, it can happen at intersections or at speed on the highway thus causing an unsafe situation. When it happens, the only way to resolve the issue is to shut off the engine and restart thus resetting the sensor. Depending on the failure level of either part of the sensor, depends on how often the problem described above occurs. I have had both parts of the tps replaced and there is still an issue where the engine sputters at high RPM even with no service engine soon light currently on at this time. The engine sputtering I feel is related to the throttle position sensor system problem. Either way, it is a safety issue when it occurs in fast moving traffic, intersections or at speed on the freeway.
