This morning I started my vehicle as I always do, scrapped off the excessive Ice/Snow from overnight, and let it warm up for approx. 8 minutes before being ready to head to work. Upon re-entering the vehicle, the ice that had melted had not quite evaporated, and I attempted to use the wipers to get a clear view. The wipers made the 'engage' movement, however they would not function up and across to clear the windshield. I manually cleared it and started making my way to work. About 2/3 of the way to work, the wipers shot across the windshield completing the request that was made and cancelled ten minutes earlier.
I know what your thinking, I'm in Montana, they were frozen! Not this time, it's the first thing I looked at before clearing the windshield manually, and they fully came up and off and swiveled manually around without a problem. I have no idea why this device failed to work properly, not having windshield wipers in the middle of a storm could strand one in undesirable locations as if you can't see, you can't get from point A to point B safely.
