This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I have a '97 & '99 Nissan Sentra gxe & both have suffered the same ac problem - the auxiliary fan ( air con cooling fan) stopped working for both when they had relatively low miles on them - 30000 - 45000 miles for the '97 & 32000 miles for the '99. On the '97 because we never got to know from regular servicing that the fan wasn't working, the ac compressor stopped working & we were left with changing the whole air con system for over $900. On the '99 the fan has just been diagnosed - the air con compressor still seems fine. These problems were diagnosed by the dealer & we were told that "like the '97, the '99 will need a new ac compressor if we don't quickly replace the fan."
