Rogue Select S 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 141,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

My wife loved this car & would have kept it forever. Then all of a sudden, the transmission started slipping & when you would come to a stop it would like lock up when starting out. I drove it & pulled away from a light & got half way in the middle of an intersection & it quit moving in heavy traffic. Boy, were a lot of unhappy drivers beeping & swerving around me.

I'm a retired mechanic & apparently nobody rebuilds this CVT transmission. I checked used prices & it's anywhere from $1000.00 to $3500.00. I checked with a local transmission shop & they said it would cost at least $4000.00 & I think that was a used one. After much consideration we decided to car shop. We were offered $300.00 trade in. I called a scrap yard & they offered us $1200.00 considering the body & interior were like new & the engine purrs like a kitten. We'd like to get into this lawsuit but I'm not sure considering the milage. If there is anything you could do for us it would be much appreciated. Thank you, Frank R. Hallman & Patty.

Rogue Select 2.4L

  • CVT transmission
  • 102,000 miles

was traveling to visit family, and all of a sudden I lost my speed began to drop, and my RPMS went crazy!! my foot was literally to the floor! IT would not pick up speed!! I slowed down, and pulled over....I was nervous, scared, because I have never had any problems out of my Nissan rogue. To make a long story short, I made it to see my family, I was uncomfortable with how it function, and knowing tat I had to get back home which was over an hour away, I went to pep boys, they instantly told me, WE DONT DO CVT TRANSMISSIONS CHANGES, TAKE IT TO THE DEALER...I walked out, and took it to the nearest Nissan dealer. They did a scan, and it went into this mode called "Limp Mode" and the transmission, code popped up. The scan took several hours, then I as told that it was the belt in the transmission, and for 4400, they could fix it!! I told them NO! I left, and drove back home. I am now investigating Nissan for these transmission failures, its seems to be common in Rogues. I have a 2014 rogue select, and I WILL NOT GIVE UP until I get answers to THIS COMMON PROBLEM!!! This is disgusting!! I'm calling Nissan hotlines, getting on forums, emailing Nissan, I'm going to exchaust everything until my vehicle is fixed! if I cant get my vehicle fixed, maybe I will make it better for someone else!

Rogue Select

  • CVT transmission
  • 65,750 miles

2014 Rouge Select was a terrible idea and the CVT was even worse. Since the first 25,000 miles we have been dealing with transmission issues, the CVT is a dangerous transmission and unsafe on freeways. Freeway speed climbing a hill and sudden loss of power is dangerous.

We thought it was a one-time thing, had the car serviced was told it would be better after an oil change, it seems like now it has issues every 1500 to 2000 miles if that, consistent loss of acceleration power with each passing month. It used to only happen during freeway speed climbs in mountainous areas, now it is at traffic light no acceleration, freeway speeds flat areas loss of speed no acceleration.

We were told to pull over let it cool down and go again it will be fine. Its almost like it forgets to shift or can't find the right gear to accelerate properly. The tranny makes almost a whining or whistling sound right before it cuts out and loses power. It's a pretty serious safety issue. If a loaded semi is climbing a steep hill and you almost get run over by it due to loss of acceleration, that is a serious problem and a safety concern, someone is going to die, HOW THE HELL IS THAT SAFE!

I bought a used Pontiac Grand Prix before this vehicle never had any issues what so ever until it was 15 years old. I only upgraded to be able to travel on dirt roads, I don't even dare with this car, one day it will just leave us stranded if we don't get ran over by a semi or other vehicle on the freeway first.

Rogue Select S AWD 2.5L 4 cyl

  • CVT transmission
  • 88,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Perfectly maintained Nissan, all highway miles. Kept in salt free state and treated well. Didn't even make it to 90k miles before transmission started going. Had it checked and was told basically that I had to cough up $7000 dollars just for a replacement transmission, plus labor by a Nissan shop.

No warranty of any kind, and empty promises of "Nissan is having so many complaints coming in on these, we can help you out, no problem!"

It's a shame because I loved driving this car but now I'm officially done with Nissan. Have passed on to my large extended family to avoid Nissan. Got rid of money and went with Dodge.

Rogue Select 2.5L 4 cyl Cvt

  • Automatic transmission
  • 74,000 miles

3-year-old vehicle and I have to replace my transmission. Had the Rogue towed to Leckner Nissan in Springfield, Va. and was quoted today $5,625 to replace. The mechanic was denied approval to replace. Its not the dealership or service its the transmission that Im upset with. I want everyone to know who is thinking of purchasing a Nissan to please be aware of the transmission problem they are having. It is the 2nd largest complaint next to heating and air-conditioning. I always trusted Nissan to be reputable and stand behind their brand but they don't. I will blast this all over social media and have no desire to ever purchase another. PLEASE be careful. Its not the money, its the principal. Not good. Stand behind your product, do the right thing. Horrible to say the least.

stopped accelerating

I purchased the car from a local dealer and I've only owned it for 5 months. The dealership says MY PARTICULAR CAR was not on the recall list for this KNOWN problem. So they want to charge me for all the repairs. Im hurt, crying and upset. I drew down some of my retirement to purchase this 12,000$ cash and now it has become unreliable.

Rogue Select SL 2.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 1,000 miles

Car has been to dealer several times and they report that they cannot find any reason for this issue. The car has several times lost power when pulling out into traffic and has been close to causing a collision thru this. It has no set pattern to when it will do it and goes many weeks between issues. It is sometimes followed by not shifting to the next gear and revs the engine very high for a long time.

Usually occurs right as you would turn onto the highway, but has done this when pulling from a red light.
