Remote start not heating interior of car, or defogging, in -20C in Canada. I thought it might be me not leaving defog on when I left the car... but it turns out the blower stopped working mid drive, leaving the windshield to fog up, and not be able to see out. After fiddling with the car to finally realize the blower was broken, I called Nissan. They indicated there is a service bulletin, but they wait until the issue happens, and then fix it. No preventative fix even thought I bought the car 5 days ago.
Totally unsafe, had to sit in a cold car in -16C while the service guys told me to drive it in.
When I got there, they told me the air intake gets clogged, the cabin air filter had gotten ice in it, burnt the transformer out, and they'd order the parts that are supposed to prevent this from happening. Um.... okay. Why not fix it before this happens?
The blower fan is located directly under the outside air vent of the car. The blower motor can not get air because of ice buildup, and the heater fan stops completely. This makes it impossible to see when driving. We live in Alaska where snow is an everyday occurrence. All the dealer told us was what the problem was, and that there currently isn't a solution.
