Friday, December 20th, 2019. I was driving my 2017 Nissan Rogue (automatic, 2WD) at 9:30 AM on a city street. There was no traffic, sunny weather. The roadway was clear, no obstructions or shadows.

At 30 mph, the car braked on its own, beeping, for one to two seconds, then continued on as if nothing had happened.

Rogue SV 2.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 26,000 miles

Driving home 1 week after purchase, rural road @ 45mph, brakes activated for no apparent reason, with flashing light on dash & alarm beeps. Very scary & unexpected. Fortunately, the car behind me was able to stop in time. I was not told about this feature by the dealer, and was not aware that the car was equipped with an auto emergency braking (AEB) system. Later learned that there was no recall, but a service bulletin had been issued about 6 months earlier, in response to numerous complaints.

Took car in for service and the software was reprogrammed, at no cost to me. Service manager says that it has been fixed, but I have no way of knowing that the problem has been corrected, and still find myself expecting recurrence. I have only had the car for 1 month, and I believe that it will take some time for me to regain confidence and feel comfortable driving again. I don't know why the dealer did not respond to the service bulletin and apply the fix, prior to selling this vehicle

I purchased the Nissan Rogue because I drive 45 minutes one way in crappy Wisconsin weather to get to my job. I wanted a safe, reliable vehicle. After what happened today, I no longer feel safe in my 2017 Nissan Rogue! Today, I was pulling in to my mother's driveway, when out of nowhere, the car beeped and came to a screeching stop (the brakes made a grinding noise - that is how hard the stop was)! There was no obstruction or anything in front of the sensor, and I was already applying the brake. I thank GOD that I wasn't on the highway! I called the dealer, thinking this MUST be a recall... it is so unsafe! Nope! Because I am over the standard warranty of 36,000 miles, I had to pay $165 to upgrade the software, which is not a guaranteed fix! I no longer feel safe!

I was crossing railroad track and the car slammed on brakes. A yellow light flashed on the dash about a emergency brakes I think. I happened so fast. I was going like 30mph so I made it over the tracks and whatever was going on quit and I resumed normal driving. If someone had been behind me we would have been in a wreck. Now I'm just super nervous driving over the track now.

I have a Nissan Rogue 2017 with automatic brake if "RADAR" detects that you are about to rear end an object, the car will "take over" and brake for you, 'cause you are Stupid. I was going home the usual way and HAVE TO go under a low trestle bridge that trains use. On this day a train was moving on the tracks, a car was on my bumper and the car----for the first time EVER took control of the NISSAN and braked. I was able to use my MANY years of experience and AVOID a rear end incident by pulling off of the road onto grass. Needless to say this was NOT acceptable and EVERY time I start this piece of crap to drive, it I have to disengage this feature that is UNSAFE, otherwise it is still ON> NOW WHAT?????
