Another CVT on the same car so in total this is the third CVT in this car which I had to have done as I couldn't afford another vehicle at this time. Nissan will get off easy with extended warranty and some replacements but I would never trust another Nissan - this my first and my last.
I wouldn't expect a CVT to go at just under 40,000 miles but as I have learned, Nissan CVTs are junk. I have another failure of this replacement at 122,915 so this one wasn't covered again - there's only 80,000 on this CVT.
Well, my transmission went out and it took a few months to come up with the money to fix it, and I got another used transmission with only 66,000 miles on it - and it's having the same problems.
CVT completely failed with no warning, Never whined and no previous indicators that it needed maintenance. Fluid changed at manufacturer recommended intervals. Dealer said that it required a complete new transmission. There is a class action lawsuit in the USA that included this car for this issue but Nissan Canada will not honor anything unless legally required. I was literally told this on the phone, that they know about the issues but won't do anything until legally required to do so.
I started noticing the jerky stuttering and lurching at low speed during acceleration and at higher speed going downhill when decelerating. It got worse with time. I called Nissan in Bennington, VT but they were closed because of the pandemic. So I lived with it for a while but it got really bad so I called again and they did a diagnostic. I was told that the cvt needed to be replaced. It was 1420 miles past warranty or 3 months past warranty. Had they been open the first time I went, it would have been covered. It was a $4000.00 replacement and the new one is only covered for 1 year or 10000 miles. I had conversations with Nissan corporate and they are not interested in me.
I bought a 2015 Nissan Rogue in March 2015. At 33,000 miles I was required to replace the CVT transmission - under warranty. Today 3 years down the road with 108,100 miles on it, I'm required to do the same! Not under warranty - costing me $4200 to replace in Massachusetts? One question : WTF?
