I was in the garage of a shopping mall waiting for a spot to park my car. All of a sudden the car made a couple of stuttering sounds and the engine just seized up. AAA was called to see if they could help it get started again but nothing he could do helped. We towed it to a mechanic. Checked the starter and alternator and he said that wasn't the problem. The engine just won't run anymore and we couldn't find a way to get it started again. Never had a car just suddenly stop running like this.

While it doesn't happen often, the fact that the car has failed to start when it is practically brand new is not acceptable.

Dealership said Nissan is well aware of this problem but is doing nothing about it.

  • Automatic transmission

My 2014 Rogue with 8500 miles won't start for 4 days. I always needed to jump start it to be able to use the car everyday. I don't think it's the battery getting dead because after the jump start the car is fine, not until the next day.

I bought a new Nissan Rouge 2014 in July 2014 from Dorothy at Nissan of Queens. After being rushed, I was last customer, I experienced one problem after the next. First off I was rushed by Dorothy who never gave me my sales sticker resulting in several issues from my car insurance company, who had me pay for external inspections because of the sticker never being given by dealer. Cost me well over $200 for three inspections over a seven month time frame. After asking for this sticker several times, Dorothy said "she could not find it."

Secondly (brand new car mind you), has an issue starting. It's an auto start, at at times it won't start. This has happened over ten documented times. When the tow truck comes to tow it back to dealer, it starts. I left it at the Dealer repair shop for nine days, while on vacation, came back, they said nothing is wrong with it. Next day same problem again, won't start. I pay $700 per month for a dud car that starts when it wants to start. It's so frustrating, that I have contacted Consumer Affairs (800)647-7261 case number 18540309, and they have referred to another dealer. But that dealer doesn't want to touch the car unless I have it towed when the problem happens.

This problem of not starting has happened several times, but when you leave it a few hours and come back to start, it starts up until the next time when it doesn't.

I am left with a dud car, sold by a rushed uncaring and unprofessional sales person, who just wanted the sale, a ridiculous repair service station who refuses to look at the starting system and must pay for a car that works when it wants to. In addition, my neighbor had the same problem and Nissan service changed the part that was causing the problem, why can't they do the same for this car? God only knows! What a great thing to have a new car.
