I had this strange problem yesterday. I was at a stop and pushed the gas pedal but Engine Revs were very sluggish. The Tachometer had to ease up to around 1200 rpm then the transmission would grab, of course with the rpm that high the car would lurch from the start. This happened for about 25 minutes while I was in city traffic. I had to drive down a long driveway slope and the transmission stayed in low gear it did not free wheel even after I was on level ground. When I was stopped and in Park the transmission had a whirring noise. I returned to my car about an hour later after thinking about the problem and decided to turn off engine braking under the driver assistance menu. I drove the car without issue the rest of the day.
We'll see if the problem returns but in the meantime I will check with the Dealership about this.
Update from Oct 11, 2015: My 2014 Nissan Rogue now has 32,000 miles on the odometer. The problem with the sluggish engine revs from 750 rpm to 1100rpm has not been resolved. This usually occurs after an hour of city stop and go traffic. The only way I have found to temporarily stop the problem is to turn off the engine while I am at the stop light, 10 to 15 seconds., The sluggish engine revs stops and all is normal. I have noticed that the transmission does not react smoothly after this problem occurs, torque has a tendency to vary on acceleration. Dealer states that no codes are being recorded and that do not have an hour to spend waiting for the problem to occur.
