Like many other people on this forum I had issues with my 2014 Nissan Rogue air conditioning. When the weather is hot outside we keep having an issue where after a short amount of time the cold air starts to slow down from the vents and gets to a point where it actually stops putting any cold air into the car. The fan is still running but nothing is coming out of the vents no matter what we do to adjust the fan speed or which vents it blows out.
I took the car into the dealership on at least 5 separate occasions and they were never able to "replicate" the issue and kept telling us there is nothing they could do. I finally pushed them to look internally to see if other people have had any similar issues and what they did to fix the problem. Once they finally stopped telling me they couldn't recreate it the dealer found some internal resources that lead them to replace the "heater box" or the HVAC Case (I've heard it called both). This is basically the entire system vent system that sits behind the dashboard.
The cost to replace it was covered under my extended warranty but if not it would have been very expensive. The cost without warranty was $2000 because they need to take the dashboard apart and basically replace the entire unit.
I added two picture to this post as well - Whenever I had the issue with my AC not blowing air I pulled the car over and got some pictures of the AC lines in the engine - you can see that they are completely covered in ICE and as I stood there for a few minutes and had the AC off you could see that it started to melt. From my discussion with the technician he mentioned that the freezing compressor is due to inadequate insulation around the heater box.
