There are over 58000 comments online about the solenoid failure and service dept says they fix them all the time. Warranty only covers this part to 36k. I filed a complaint with Nissan America they will not respond in time to cover the repair. Customer service is in Philippines, just a answering service basically, who can only take messages and not actually put you in touch with someone who will address the issue.
Apparently since 2008 there are complaints online.
We were on vacation and it was stuck in park ... 300 miles from home!! By a lot of determination we got it to move and then never turning it off on our drive home, which ruined the second part of our holiday as we were to take 2 days driving home to explore landmarks coming home.
Nissan says ...life's a journey .. enjoy the ride ?? Apparently not. I had just taken it in to buy it out from being a lease and this happened 30 days from them doing a 52 point check and said the car was fine. Very annoying being stuck in a campground and then driving home with someone always in the car with it running while we took bathroom breaks and also had to gas it running... I will not buy Nissan again... and I will probably stick with Chevrolet. Ny Tahoe is a backup for hauling things and never had a issue with 140000 miles ... go Chevy.. they have my vote!! Lets see if the Regional service person from Nissan cares to cover what seems to be a chronic issue with their shifter!!
