The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle decelerated numerous times and the failsafe mode light illuminated. Also, the transmission overheated once causing the transmission fluid to leak. The dealer test drove the vehicle but was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.
While stopped at an intersection the car would barley move with the pedal to the floor, I had my 4 year old child with me and traffic had to slow down to let me on the road, this is the 4th time this has happened and the car only has 56,000 miles on it. This has happened on the interstate and speed has decreased with the pedal pushed to the floor and vehicles had to swerve to get around me.
I was on a trip to san diego (via the 5 fwy) on Saturday and when I am about 1 1/2 hour into my trip and started to go up an incline the car refused to accelerate (the pedal was all the way to the floor. This was quite scary since there were numerous cars and trucks behind me. I slowly made my way over to the shoulder in order to turn the car off and restart. When I restarted the car I was only able to accelerate to 20 mph to get off the freeway. I even tried putting the car into low gear and turning od on and off but the car did not respond at all. I then puller over for about 1/2 hour then restarted the car. Now it was responding to acceleration but the response wad intermittently. The car wasn't driving normal at all. Then I finally made it to my destination where the car then set for several hours. When I left to return home the car returned to its normal behavior response.
I bought this car in 2013 used with 38000 miles after about 60000 miles I noticed that at a stop light it would not go when I accelerated and after a few seconds it would go, this happened a couple of times. There was no warranty on the vehicle so I purchased a extended warranty. The next incident was when I was driving all of a sudden the RPM's started going real high and then the car slowly lost powe, R at this time I had about 2000 miles left on my warranty took it into the shop where they could not find anything wrong. I continued to drive the vehicle which by now the warranty has expired. The car was getting to the point that when it happened I would have to pull over to the side of the road to wait and after a few minutes it would gain power again, I then took it to Nissan where the told me it was my transmission, I took it for a second opinion where they confirmed it was the transmission which they say is crazing for as little miles and being a some what new car. It cost me $2600 compared to Nissan which wanted $3800. The problem I had was that I drive about 84 miles from home to work and it stared to get where I couldn't trust that car. From what I read and was told from Nissan is that the altama has very similar problems to where the see a car a day with transmission problems which is not right, why should we consumers get stuck with costly repairs on a fairly new vehicle. My car never had a engine light that came on they only way I knew something was wrong is when the RPM's went real high.
Vehicle was on the interstate( going home after family vacation) going 70 mph when without warning the car would not accelerate, in fact the car dropped down speed rapidly. Again without warning we were in the middle of fast moving traffic and could not gain speed. Eventually pulling over, letting the transmission cool off. This is a problem with the cars cvt transmission and once it overheats it puts itself into " limp mode" so it doesn't kill itself?this is a huge safety concern and Nissan needs to recall this part. I spoke tot he service technician and he says that I need to bring it in to diagnose it even though he is about 99% sure that this is the problem and that Nissan will pay to fix it ( I think by putting in a cooler or replacing the trans) but that there are 15 vehicles ahead of me at the current moment and the parts are backordered at least for 3 weeks. Nissan further goes to say that a rental car is not an option"how is this a consumers fault? how can Nissan get away with this? I live in the mountains and I cannot drive this car and because Nissan is backed up on making parts to make their cars work, that becomes my problem" I have asked for a regional specialist and have been assigned a case number but have yet to talk to anyone and this is now going on four days. Meanwhile I have an unsafe car that I cannot drive and pay money for every month. This part needs to be recalled so others are informed and no one is caught off guard when your car suddenly doesn't go.

Was driving my 2011 rouge home on a 120 mile trip on the interstate and after about and hour of driving the call suddenly refused to accelerate past 3000 RPM. There was about 20 miles between exists and this became a safety concern while trying to climb an incline; the car decelerated from 70 mph to 45 mph and I could not do enough to get out of the way of other traffic. After 15 miles or so of driving, it returned to normal. It has since occurred 3 more times while driving on the interstate for trips over an hour. I took it to a Nissan dealership on 4/21/14 and was told they couldn't do anything because no codes were produced.
Two months prior to burn out, vehicle was taken to local Nissan dealership for cvt fluid flush. Was not aware of recall until after incident occurred, after contacting nna. Also was experiencing loss of power when driving up hills or speeds above 70 mph. I mentioned to dealership, they advised to get cvt tranny fluid flushed and refilled. Recall was never addressed to me at previous Nissan service visits. Nna has denied "product liability." My sister and I were fortunate to make it out of a flaming, rolling fireball. Firefighters pinpointed explosion and fire to power steering electric control. Vehicle is a total loss and incident is yet to be investigated, insurance currently in beginning phases. Be careful in the Rogues people!!
The contact owns a 2011 Nissan rouge. The contact stated that after engaging the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to move. There were no warning lights that illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was merged to the side of the road, where the contact attempted to engage the accelerator pedal again and the vehicle resumed to its normal operations. The failure occurred on seven different times. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 80,300 and the current mileage was 80,400.
I had been driving approximately an hour in 90 degree weather on the interstate going 65 mph when my Nissan Rogue lost the ability to accelerate. With the acceleration pedal fully depressed, the car would not accelerate and eventually stopped altogether, causing me to attempt maneuvering around cars going over 70 mph to get to the side of the road. I was almost struck twice. After 20 minutes I was able to start the car again and drive at 40mph to the dealership. I was told today it was an issue with the automatic transmission control module and it would need to be replaced costing me $1000. Previous models of the Rogue through 2010 had an extended warranty offered for this issue through 120,000 but mine is a 2011 and I was told I have to pay for it myself. I have contacted 1-800-nissan1 and filed a complaint. This is incredibly frustrating and dangerous.
From stop to trying to cross a intersection vehicle stopped accelerating. If another car was coming a loss of acceleration can cause a serious accident. I have seen several complaint for the same issue posted all over the internet. From 2008 to 2013 models. It seems to be a known issue and no recall yet. I hope they do not wait until a death occurs.

The dealer replaced the transmission dip stick meter and reduced the transmission level. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000. The current mileage was 72,000.
This is the situation that happened with my vehical too, the below statement is another persons complaint as well as mine. I have a 2011 Nissan Rogue but my transmission was installed in Oct 2010, I am having the same issues that are happening with the 2010 recall. They are getting the extended warranty and I feel that the 2011 should get the same extended warranty summary: The 2011 Rogue is the car we use for longer trips when we're not flying. About two hours into a long interstate trip in May 2013 we started to hear a high pitched whine from the transmission whenever we would accelerate to go uphill or pass another vehicle. Shortly after we started hearing that noise the transmission was unable to "downshift" (technically cvts don't downshift) and we lost power. We could still maintain a reasonable speed on level terrain, but we were barely able to maintain speed going over small hills. We would have our foot planted on the accelerator but nothing would happen, acceleration wise. Once we'd stop, turn the car off, wait a few minutes, then start the car and get back to driving, everything would be fine. But after a while of extended driving the problem would return. This issue has shown up a few time since then but always during extended driving sessions and never on the day-to-day short commutes, which has made it frustrating to track. In doing a simple google search we found many other Rogue owners describing our exact same symptoms, and even someone that posted a youtube video during their problem.

The transmission started clicking mid-March 2014. I took it into the dealer and was told the transmission needed replacement. The vehicle is a 2011 with 85,000 miles - it should not need a new transmission and is currently out of warranty. The cost of replacement is $3,000. The previous model years 2003-2010 warranty's were increased to 10 years 120,000 miles due to issues with the transmission. It appears to me that the issue was not fixed and warranty's again should be extended for owners of model year 2011 and beyond. Nissan should stand by their vehicles and repair and replace when issues arise.
Had been driving on the interstate for 35 minutes. Exited the off ramp at a red light so the vehicle was at a complete stop. When the light changed the Rogue would not go. I had to shut the vehicle off and start it back up. It seemed to reset itself. Had a similar incident in the summer of 2013 when it was 90 degrees drove for 90 miles tried to pass someone on the interstate and could not get it to go over 50 mph when the speed limit is 70. Had to pull off and restart the vehicle. Very dangerous.
The transmission disengaged and the car did not accelerate. This happens frequently and began occurring approximately 18 months ago. It happened almost daily during warmer weather.
We were driving the vehicle on interstate highway at 70 mph. Car began bucking, had a high pitched whining and lost all power in acceleration, transmission went out. We immediately dropped to 20 mph. We were almost rear-ended in traffic. Had to move to shoulder and have car towed. Dealership gave us 800 number to call Nissan since the 2008-2010 models have had the same transmission problems. Nissan extended warranty on those but refused to extend warranty on 2011 which has the same transmission. The car gave no warning at all. This problem could have caused a serious accident. Nissan needs to correct the problem. Just read on edmunds.com forum that many Nissan Rogue owners are having problems with transmission while driving without any warning.
While going between 75-80 mph for between 100-125 miles, the car would not hardly go, had to slow down and get off the interstate, cut the car off for a few minutes, and then it seemed okay, this is the third time this has happened while traveling for extended periods of time on the interstate at higher speeds, something really needs to be done about this, it started at 30000 miles, very dangerous!

On numerous occasions when trying to accelerate the car will lose power to the point it almost fills as if it will shut off. Usually happens when starting off on a grade or slowing for a turn then pushing the gas pedal. The car also shudders and feels like it chugging or wobbling along, as if the road it lumpy. I have seen numerous complaints on the issue, but no recall or service bulletins have been issued. When it almost completely loses power its very scary, as it has happened while trying to merge onto the interstate. I have a young child and it has put us both in danger more than once since buying the car used in July 2013.
