My problem started in Sept 2017 while driving 6 hours from Baytown, TX to El Dorado, AR for a new job. Driving along about 80 mph, about 3 hours into the drive and the car started to decelerate with no effect when I pressed the gas pedal. I managed to pull over and turn the car off, waited 20 min or so then get back on the road with no problem. Since then it has happened sporadically on my trips back and forth. Finally the "service engine light soon" came on last week (March 7th, 2018) so I took it to Auto Zone to get the code and it was the P0442 (or the common one I keep seeing). Gas cap tight, so took it to a mechanic to get the PCV (purge canister valve?) replaced. Picking it up today. Will post if the problem continues. The car has been great to me and is paid off. BUT being a single female driving 6 hours back and forth I begin to panic and worry about being stranded... Might be time for a new car !!

I bought my 2009 Nissan Rouge 6 years ago. Never really had problems with it until this year. About 4 months ago, was driving up the grapevine hills and I started to lose power. Was driving at 70 mph. Dropped down to 25 mph. We all know there are truck drivers always on the freeway. I had to put my emergency lights on because was afraid a diesel would hit me. Now, recently I was on freeway way again. Not on a hill. Now driving after an hour. My Nissan did the same thing. Was driving 70 mph. Dropped to 60 mph. Then I get off the freeway to a stop light. The Nissan would move slowly. No power. Then it finally moved. So I'm thinking not to invest any money in this car. Going to trade it in for something else. Well, never buy another Nissan.!!

my wife bought this car use several years ago. we tend to travel quite a bit on road trips after about 90000 miles, I started noticing something strange. after driving for about 25 minutes on a highway at approximately 3000 rpm, if I came to a stop, the vehicle would struggle to accelerate and would take several seconds to just get to about 10 miles per hour. at this point the vehicle would begin to slowly accelerate faster on its own. this type of occurrence tends to happen when going through mountain roads such as that to go through the Appalachian Mountains. I have read all over the internet that people take the vehicle to the mechanic after this occurs and the mechanic is unable to replicate the effects. I have not seen any code popup related to the effects. however to get the replicated results/effects the mechanic must do the same steps as described above. the vehicle must be driven for an extended duration of time at approximately 3000 rpm. the loss of power will be noticed after the RPM starts to fluctuate without increasing or decreasing pressure on the accelerator. I hope together we can solve this problem because on the highway this is a very dangerous problem. as we were going through the mountains, we lost complete power going up a hill and wind up being stopped in the middle of the road with many cars stuck behind us. there has also been many occurrences in which after driving on the highway and exiting, I have come to a complete stop at a stop light and have been in a very dangerous situation in accelerating again due to loss of power and oncoming traffic.
