I think I am a victim of an odometer fraud scheme and wanted to report it. If this is not the place to report it or if I need to do anything further, please let me know. I live in oakland, ca and bought a used car Nissan Rogue 2008 off of craigslist on December 23rd, 2016 for $5000. I bought it for my dtr and she began to have a lot of trouble with it. When I bought it, it was advertised as having 59K miles. We were having some trouble with it that did not fit with the mileage and when we more carefully checked the carfax the mileage on the vehicle previously was 156,788. My name is [xxx] the name on the title(seller) is [xxx] (unsure if this is real name now) [xxx] the car appears to have been serviced regularly at Nissan sunnyvale in sunnyvale, California 408-470-4151 has been reported to calif dmv; information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

While driving at varied speed the Rogue will refuse to accelerate and the rpms will rise, but the car will not go no matter how far you press the accelerator down. This has happened countless times and when I research online it seems to be a common and known issues with Rogues of this year. I have had several near collisions due to this issues.

I bought a new 2008 Nissan Rogue in 2008. I'm on the 3rd transmission on this car. Each time the same thing goes wrong. When the transmission gets hot on a longer than 2 hour trip, it loses power. On 7-23-16 on a 400 mile trip, half way into the trip it starts to slowly lose power. The fastest I can go is 60 mph. Going up hills it's about 45mph at full speed. This is the same thing that happened to the other 2 transmissions. Now I have 128,000 miles on this vehicle. Is it still a free replacement on the transmission" I probably only have about 50,000 miles on this latest transmission. My question is, will the dealer replace it free of charge"

After driving 2.5 - 3hrs of highway driving would not accelerate (increase in speed ). I have been in intersections and the car would not accelerate which is a very serious safety concern. I have to travel to Alabama and Florida several times each year from my home in South Carolina and this has happened when trying to pass large16 wheeler trucks or just keep up with traffic flow. To do this when traveling at speeds of 65 - 70 miles per hr. Has concerned me, it is a serious safety matter. It could easily cause a serious crash and death. On a resent trip(July /2015) to Alabama on I-65 traveling at speeds on 70+ my car started to decelerate to down it was near 50 miles per hour, I pulled off highway and turned my car off. I have checked to make sure it is not over heating, which it is not. The temp. Gauge is below the half mark and the RPM gauge will not move past 2.5. also, on this trip I noticed that any slight hill going up it would have trouble pulling and start to decelerate then once I got up this hill it would accelerate to 80+ miles per hr. I have read quite a few complaints on this site concerning the same things are happening when traveling long highway trips. This must be taken care of by Nissan before someone dies or seriously injured.

I've had this issue for a couples of years now, my Rogue losses power after driving for about 30 minutes or more on the highway. I've read several complaints in this site and elsewhere of when the problem occur and how it's so hard replicate because there's no engine light. I've already replace my transmission in April 2013 and now my engine lights is on, took it to Nissan and they say it's my transmission valve body. I just hit 126,000 miles on the vehicle and of course my extended warranty expires at 120,000. Nissan needs to seriously consider a recall on this issue before someone gets hurt (if it hasn't happen already).

The transmission died on my 2008 Nissan Rogue. After purchasing the vehicle in June 2008, we heard "whiring" noises. The vehicle was taken to the dealership of purchase and we have the notation that customer complained of whiring. Result was there were no issues. Car has continued to whine through the years, in the past year, it became worse. We took it to our mechanic to be evaluated, and immediately he knew the problem- the cvt transmission. The mechanic did some research and found that Nissan had extended the warranty, very quietly. Since I drive 70+ miles to/from work, my car was already over the warranty limit. Hence, left with 2 options, replacement via a Nissan dealership costing $5,000 as no viable mechanic will touch the problem. Or get rid of the car. This type of repair was not in our budget nor were we in a position to purchase a new vehicle ( this one was paid for). There was no guarantee when the transmission would go out, other than it eventually would. Lately, the noise had become much worse and we feared the worst. Thank goodness, the car died in our driveway and not the highway. Nissan knew this was a problem, apparently from the beginning, and is not accepting responsibility.

This is the second time in three weeks this has happened. While driving the engine shut off due to running out of gas. The problem being that the gas gauge said I had over 1/4 tank of gas left. I had called the dealer to find out what could be wrong and I was told it may be the fuel sending unit or the actual gas gauge that's faulty. I've read that other individuals have been experiencing issues with the Nissan Rogue's gas gauge.
