have had this issue since i bought it in 12/10. Nissan has looked at the car but states some rogues makes this noise and there is nothing wrong. This clattering noise is when starting and per nissan there's no oil at top of motor at the the timing chain which when it's started. It sounds as though its dry starting, the sound is horrible, I cannot believe if many people that have a Rogue heard this noise they would not be concerned. Have a friend that has one and no noise is heard. i am so tired of this have lost all faith in Nissan. This is not my first Nissan but it will be my last. Nissan customer service at the corporate level and at dealership have lied to me, ignored me and just doesn't seem interested in fixing the issue. To me if the oil is not lubing every where it should be sooner or later somethings going to go bad. I have a feeling nissan is waiting for the warranty to expire so they will not have to be responsible. Also when they replaced the timing chain the sound went away and had more power for about 1.5 wks but the noise started back, which has never been explained to me why. I know there's something wrong, motors do not just start making noise due to low or no oil in an area and not have damage.
