Summer of 2016 ran out of fuel with gauge still showing 1/4 tank. November 2016 was informed of recall to fix gauge. Fix was installed and worked intermittently for 4 months then back to showing 1/4 tank when it was really empty.
Went back to dealer, they said it would most likely be ~$900 to replace fuel pump in tank since that is where the sensor was part of. Called Nissan and they said I needed to have the dealer trouble shoot (for $100) and definitively say it was the fuel pump. I asked Nissan if the dealer found the fuel pump to be the problem would Nisan pay for the replacement - the answer was not necessarily - but Nissan would evaluate the claim.
So I didn't get it fixed. The problem was fixed when I totaled the car a month later.
