My 2008 Quest recently started making a noise that I thought was coming from the transmission but I brought it into the dealer for diagnosis and was told it is the timing chain guide. They quoted me $1500, upon researching this it appears there are several class action lawsuits against Nissan for this same issue.
I called Nissan consumer affairs and was told that they can't help me even though they are aware of the issue because it hasn't reached recall, the knew there are numerous TSB on this issue, etc. Even though I'm 33 months out of warranty they claim they at times have helped people if within mileage but since I'm a bit over 60k I'm out of luck. This vehicle shouldn't have any timing chain issue at 68k miles and it's very disheartening to me.
I bought this brand new, don't drive crazy, or take any real long trips. As a single mom, with a deceased spouse I can't afford the repairs and I can't believe this isn't a recall but I'm sure the cost of repair for this is why it isn't. It is a safety issue. Very disappointed in Nissan for the first time in my life.
