CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2017 was redesigned with new fascia and headlights, but what will be particularly interesting to watch will be the new, direct-injected V6 engine with CVT. Nissan's history with CVTs has been shaky at best.

Pulling a trailer up Chinook Pass in Mt. Rainer and just as we got to the summit, the engine cut and we had to power at all, most importantly no power to the brakes. We rolled to safety and shut the car all the way down, then back on. It shook like crazy and I shut it off again. Started it again and it started right up with no problems at all. We were very nervous to go down the mountain. I'd had the car for over a year and it had never happened before. Dealer charged me $96.80 to tell me nothing is wrong with the car. Selling it back to them asap.

Purchased my new Nissan Pathfinder 2 years and 7 months ago from Valley Nissan in Staunton, VA. 3 years later and 70,000 miles (Powertrain Warranty is 5 years 60,000 miles) my car steering wheel locked up going 50mph down the road with two kids and cut off in middle of the road. No alerts except ikey fob error. Nissan told me was my key battery to my car. I was getting ready to turn onto interstate thankfully hadn’t yet!! We would have been slammed by a tractor trailer. For five days they had my car in the maintenance department telling me multiple things it could possibly be: key unpaired from motor, key battery, to fuse blown, to possibly a recall, to a catastrophic motor issue and wouldn’t touch it without me agreeing to paying them $15,500 for a new motor. The car is 3 years old and the engine just locks up? No alerts, plenty of oil, no other sounds or anything just stops while driving! Very poor customer service especially during COVID-19 when you are supposed to be helping people even more. I would NOT recommend anyone purchasing a car from Nissan!!! I have had my car at 2 other repair shops that have said has nothing to do with anything I have done something internal with the engine and Nissan needs to stand behind that. The car should NOT just lock up and no other alerts, sounds, nothing less than 3 years later on a brand new car!!

Car lost power and started to idle very rough while coasting down a two lane road. This would have been a nightmare at interstate speed. Pulled off to shoulder and car continued to idle very rough and had no power in drive. Shut the car off for about 30 mins waiting on tow truck. Eventually started the car back and was able to drive it back home. Disconnected the battery overnight; thinking to reset the computer. Next morning car would start then immediately die. Had to tow it to dealer. Waiting to see if they cover repairs under warranty or not?

On July 16, 2017, I was driving from Las Vegas to California for a family vacation. We were taking our daughter to Disney for the first time. We were in bumper to bumper traffic, idling and the car shut down. Luckily I was in the far left lane and able to power the vehicle back on. We turned around and drove to an auto store. They tested the battery and found that it was fine.

We brought it to Nissan the next day and it took them 5 hours to get us rental. This issue took 2 days away from our vacation. They found no issue and refused to replace the battery. 2 weeks later the same dealership was featured on the news for the same issue. People were upset that vehicle were sold needing software updates.

Come on Nissan get it together, your dealerships should not let cars off the lot needing updates. 2 weeks after that my oil light came on. The dealership said sometimes the Vegas heat causes fluids "Dry up". I cannot understand why they did not make sure my fluids were filled when they had my vehicle for a week while we were in California.
