Pathfinders can make a very loud whining noise from the Electronic Power Steering Unit. It is VERY annoying, and very loud - you can hear it clearly from inside the vehicle. The proposed solution is to replace for $3,000, but the dealer will install an "insulator" for $150 that greatly lessens the noise. They couldn't promise me that the new part (same as the old part) won't also quickly fail - it is a Nissan problem.
So, it is ridiculous that they use a part that makes so much noise on a LOT of Pathfinders, but, they tell me that the functionality of the part is good, it is just LOUD.
