I have a Nissan Pathfinder Premium Platinum edition. This vehicle has the Navigation system and comes with XM Nav Traffice and XM Weather. The XM Weather works find and announces when there is a weather event in your area. However, the NavTraffic does not announce. So far from Nissan, since this a a new vehicle and radio, have not found anyone that actually reall knows how it is supposed to work. I know I can't trust the owners manual since I have found other errors in what is written in how items are supposed to work.
I will say that I had traded a Buick Enclave that had XM NavTraffic in it and it worked like it should. When on my commute I would get on the highway and it would announce nearby traffice incidents on the highway I was on even if I did not have a route programmed. If I did have a route programed it would announce upcoming events on my route.
In the Nissan nothing is announce automatically, This includes having the setting to announce traffic turned on. I have had the dealership look at it and they basically just went out and read the manual and said I don't know. I have opened up a case with Nissan and have posted on Facebook. The case at Nissan has told me it is functioning as designed after talking with the dealer. However, the did not fully ask the questions. They researched as just the nearby traffic. I let them know that it was also with a route programmed in and so far have gotten nowhere. On Facebook they Nissan replied that I had to have a route programmed in in which I replied that that it did not work with a route plugged in. So far I am hearing from the dealership that they are not doing any updates to the Nav system.
I use NavTraffic for my commute to and from work. What I found out on my own that when I do plug in a destination, in this instance I was showing under traffic info 4 incidents on my route. If I pushed the voice button on the dash, it would repeat my next turn from Nav and would announce the 4 incident on of traffice. Never has it automatically warned of anyting on my route, instead I have to monitor a list manually. In this case the every time I pressed the voice button it would announce the last incident and stopped announcing that when it was under 15 miles. Other times even pressing the voice button, nothing is announce when the list is showing several items on the list. It also does not display on the map traffic incidents. This is actually useless for me to use during commute and wonder how it will work on a long trip if I have to keep monitoring a manual list. Since this is an on an off setting for traffice announcements, I would expect that when on it would announce the incidents.
