CarComplaints.com Notes: While there are fewer "radiator leaked into transmission" complaints for the 2008 model year, they are starting to pile up. Buyer beware.
Nissan has extended their radiator warranty on 2005-2010 Pathfinders to 8 years/80,000 miles. However the average mileage for transmission failure for earlier model years is 95,000 miles, which conveniently (for Nissan) is just past the limit of their extended warranty. Owners beware.
I experienced hard shifting, shaking when the transmission would shift so I was told by Kline Nissan of Maplewood, MN it may be the radiator and radiator fluid is being mixed with the transmission fluid and needed to be checked immediately in which I dropped off at that dealer same day. I received a call three days later stating it was the transmission and needed to be replaced! Fast forward just under 6 months, teaser I need another transmission because Kline did not fix the problem in the first place!!!
AT THIS POINT I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE ONLY NISSAN DEALER IN TOWN HAS TIME FOR AN APPOINTMENT, WHICH IS NEXT WEEK. IN THE MEAN TIME, I HOPE MY VEHICLE MAKES IT UNTIL THEN.
