How dare Nissan know about the engine problems with these vehicles and not do any type of recall!!! Not only is my car totally gone. The transmission is going from the coolant leaking into it,amongst a whole bunch of other problems. I will never buy another Nissan again. I hope this helps people when they are deciding on a car go past their dealerships. They only care about themselves and how much money they can make off of the people. My car only had 89,000 miles on it. I should have been able to get a few more years with it. They are a disgrace!!!
In 2014, my 2007 Nissan Pathfinder needed the radiator replaced and transmission rebuilt. At that time, my dealership told me that I also needed a timing chain replaced because that was an issue. They told me that if I didm;t have it done, it could break and fly into the engine, which would ruin it. I have the timing chain replaced at that time.
No more Nissans for me, they cost me $2700 to repair and I have transmission problems now. My engine is burning oil, causing catalytic converter problems, tires wearing out and steering problems, vapor canister problems. This list is just growing. This is my last Nissan ever. Good luck to those who have this year and make and model. The lawsuit is useless to you and even more useless to any new owners.
I have been taken for a fool this was my first new vehicle. In the past week my transmission has broken along with cooling system the I find out that Nissan has problems with the timing chain guess what? My timing chain needs to be fixed too that is nearly $9000.00. That's more than what my car is worth. I have been duped into buying a vehicle that is now worthless to me. My heart is broken. I have caused my family hardship for believing in Nissan products. We are without a vehicle now. This situation is causing me stress, anxiety and depression. Please Help!
Failure of timing chain tensioning system at 80,000 miles, which is well below expected mileage failure. It is evident that Nissan was aware of this issue since they issued service bulletin and created special tools specifically to reduce the amount of time it took for dealerships to repair timing chain failures. The fact that they did this infers they expected heavy volumes of repairs. COMPLETELY unacceptable to treat customers this way. I have purchased my last Nissan.

I took my car in to Nissan dealership to complain about a whining noise when accelerating, and to no avail the dealer said they couldn't hear it and there was nothing wrong with my car. I was just barely under 60,000 miles and knew my warranty was about to expire and knew this issue had to be fixed before it either destroyed my car or ended up out of warranty. Still, the dealer said that they could not "FIND" anything.
Two months later I took it back to the dealership again because the problem has not gone away, mileage was now 67,861 and out of warranty, and low and behold I was told that the engine noise was coming from the secondary timing chain and tensioners. I immediately asked that they call Nissan to appeal to this repair being covered under warranty since I had been in for the same problem less than two months ago. However, the dealer claimed that my dip stick did not register any oil in the crank case and that the problems I was having was due to my negligence in maintaining my car. They denied to give me any warranty coverage even though I had came in to report the problem while I was still under warranty.
I took my car to another dealership and ended up paying around $2,000 to get the timing chain fixed along with much headache and total disappointment with Nissan. I wish I would have sold my car there and then because a few years later the radiator would leak into my transmission and cost me another $4,000+ in damages.
It seems this problem has been an item that Nissan has failed to recall after several incidents and an alleged class action suit. 30000. Is no time for a timmig belt to go. This was my 12th Nissan. Never again!
I thought about trading the vehicle in, since I like to replace my cars between 70k and 80k. When I went to the dealership they told me they could not give me fair price for my trade in since it needed this expensive fix. They quoted me over $1500.00. Other than this, the car is in immaculate condition. I had started to notice a whine from under the hood about 6-12 months ago, but thought it could be normal. Apparently this is a very common issue with this engine as the dealer knew exactly what the problem was after hearing the noise for two seconds. Why is this not a recall item?
I am the owner of a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. I bought this vehicle brand new from a Nissan dealership and have only had it serviced at that dealership. I was just told yesterday that my timing chain guides(which are plastic) are worn out and need to be replaced. Thank God it is covered under my expensive extended warranty. BUT- my vehicle only has 20,818 miles on it. Why in the world would these be wearing out already???? Very low miles and excellent service record at the dealership only. Yesterday they also told me that my A/F sensor in my fuel tank went out- had to replace that- would have been a $280 fix but was covered under my expensive extended warranty. Also was told my camber(spelling) bolts needed replaced with longer ones because my tires need aligning and it is adjusted all the way to the end of my camber bolts? Don't get this one because they have never told me this before, and they are the ONLY ones who have serviced my vehicle. But was told if I don't have those replaced my tires will wear unevenly. THIS is not covered under my extended warranty. Why in the world are all these things going wrong on a vehicle that only has 20818 miles on it????
My check engine light has been on for several months now, I took it to Nissan and they informed me that the timing belt needed to be replace with only 78,000 miles; I have never had to replace a timing belt on any of my vehicle before 100,000 miles.
Noticed a whisling sound from engine and got a quote from the local mech. who said it would require him to remove the transmission out to fix the timing chain and would cost a fortune. He kindly printed out a "service call" (not a recall) sheet for me to bring to Nissan to see if they'll cover it. When I brought it there they did fix the problem under the warranty (just by 1 month). Could not believe the many issues that we are having with this vehicle. If we waited 1 more month this fix would of cost us thousands of dollars.
