CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2005-2007 Pathfinder appears to have a widespread defect where coolant leaks into the transmission, causing transmission failure around 90,000 miles. Repair costs are typically upwards of $3,500.
According to the New York Times & a class action lawsuit, the defect actually extends through 2010 model year. More info here.
Timing chain problems (which apparently everyone that has a Nissan Pathfinder made from 2004-2010 has the problem) and yet NO RECALL! Makes a loud noise.
I've had he car 3 mos now I'm out of our only car due to Nissan not doing what they should do and fix their mistake. I have 3 small children and work my ass off trying to have something I love, the Pathfinder. Until I start reading. (after buying and spending all of our money) Now I gotta come up with the money for parts and repair myself.
So, on the same visit to the dealership about the radiator leaking into the transmission. ..they also gave me the news that my engine is making the whining noise from the timing chain and bad stamp of the guides. This too is also a known problem, even acknowledged by Nissan..but yup...you the 1st, 2nd, 3rd owner...yes you get to give them more money BECAUSE WE HERE IN AMERICA DO NOT MAKE COMPANIES ACCOUNTABLE FOR POOR QUALITY...I can not believe that with all the same issues of so many units sold and they have it rigged to where they aren't hurt a bit.
