I PURCHASE MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER FROM MY HUSBAND COUSIN. IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY HOW THE PAINT IS PEELING. I NOW HAVE RUST SPOTS ON THE TOP OF MY VEHICLE. EVERYTIME I WASH IT, IT GETS WORST. I HAVE CALLED NISSAN DEALERSHIPS AND THEY SAID THAT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY, SO I NEED TO BRING IT IN TO SEE HOW MUCH ITS GOING TO COST TO GET IT FIXED. I PRINTED EVERYONE'S COMPLAINT ABOUT THE SAME SITUATION AND I AM GOING TO SHOW THEM WHEN I GO. THEY WILL GIVE ME SOME ANSWERS ON WHY ITS JUST THE WHITE ONES. IT LOOKS LIKE CRAP.

Not sure about other colors...but if you look at any and all 2006 white pathfinders, the paint is peeled off around both sides of the windshield (A Pillar)...My paint peel has now moved to my upper wheel well quarter panel surface....I was told it was a factory defect in the substance that adheres the paint.....would love to see other people complaining about this problem, I know you all have it...

The top of my Pathfinder started peeling about 3 years ago. We had it repainted. Now over the last year and a half there are places peeling like crazy. Around all the windows especially...there's huge chunks that peel off the nose of the hood all the time. We keep touching up the paint ourselves but it looks terrible where it keeps peeling. Nissan should have to fix this problem because it is an obvious defect!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paint has been peeling off of my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. When I brought in to the dealership - they took pictures and noted the paint peeling. When I called the Nissan customer service number, I was told the truck was out of warranty and they would not help pay for repainting the truck. Its an obvious factory defect, but Nissan would not stand by their product. Do NOT BUY NISSAN!

Nissan North American and Nissan Consumer Affairs totally blew me off when I called to complain about this. I had to file a complaint ticket 3 times before it even showed up in their system and someone called me back. They would always call when I was at work and when I called them back (sometimes immediately) they were never available or the switchboard could not transfer me. The extension number my CSR gave me never worked. It would take her DAYS to call me back when I finally was able to leave her a message. My local dealership told me, as well as my body shop that this problem is a defect in either the paint or the application of the paint and that Nissan should fix it...but they told me "we cannot help you" without giving my any explanation why. I asked my CSR what the "reason" was that Nissan could not help me and she refused to give me any information. I see that I am not the only one who is having this problem with a pathfinder and the paint peeling off, so I know that this is not an isolated problem with my vehicle. I am posting my complaints on every social media outlet I can find.

Pathfinder S V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 51,000 miles

I purchased my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder S in November of 2006. It was brand new. I purchased the vehicle because

I have a growing family and needed more room. The vehicle began having problems after my 36,000 mile factory warranty on the vehicle. I have had an exorbitant amount of problems. I’ve had front passenger airbag sensor replaced, the battery replaced, the battery corroded so bad my truck quit starting, the radiator has been replaced, and gas sensor replaced, transmission work done, and now my paint is peeling off to the primer. Between 36,000 and 53,000 miles things just stopped working in the vehicle. I took my vehicle to Love Nissan on Route 60 in St Albans WV, and the same and only place that has always worked on the pathfinder. I feel like I wasted my money. I had three previous cars from different manufacturers and did not have any of those problems. The Nissan dealership has not offered any type of assistance with now my paint that is peeling. Nissan should do recalls on their parts, and their bumper to bumper warranty should be 5yrs /60,000 before Nissan sells another auto. I just got back from Love Nissan in St Albans to only find out more work that needs to be done, and it also is not covered by the extended warranty I purchased the day I bought my truck.

I have worked as a retail loan officer for 7 years. I have advised all customers to not purchase Nissan, and especially not from Love auto in St Albans WV. I would hate for anyone else to go through the horror of buying a Nissan, and also I would hate for anyone to have to go through the trouble dealing with the lady that is a garage manager that was recently hired.
